stop…..we lost to a 3-8 Temple team 49-7.I was a freshman during the infamous 0-11 season in 1997. The team which SI dubbed one of the top 25 worst American sports teams of all time (in any sport college or pro). They weren’t even this bad.

Of course it’s recruiting. The elites have always been good at it(even when the $$ went under the table). Maybe the World of NIL will even things up a bit. Elite kids want to play for winners. Success breeds success. But Indiana is a major outlier this year. While I think it's obvious that it's both, I have friends whose knowledge of the game I respect greatly that will tell you that in college football it's 90% recruiting.
I don't believe one play decides a game, it's a set of plays and calls
that said, what teams has he beaten that are good teams in 2.0? 1.0 doesn't matter, different decades and different era. I don't see any good teams he's beaten. I do see 4 games against good teams we lost to that we should have beaten, 2 in spectacular fashion with one being ranked that was 100% on his decision.
GS has beaten good teams? In 6 Years he has a beaten a total of 2 B1G Teams that finished with winning records. 2024 Minnesota finished at 8-4 (1 good win for Rutgers) and a 2023 NW team finished strong with a winning record. Rutgers beat NW in Game 1, the first game of David Braun taking over the program. That's it. Otherwise, Rutgers has beaten nobody else with a winning record under the GS regime. That's just plain sad. Don't quote me back with OOC wins. It's lower conferences against weak opponents. It's a shame VT, BC and Temple were busts when Rutgers played those schools.
As for Athan not fumbling, bad snap in Minnesota game etc. it's all excuses. Close is not good enough.
It's on the team to perform and win games, followed by the donations. Nobody likes supporting a loser. Most people don't burn good money thrown after bad. A new Head Coach brings hope and an increase in donations. Otherwise sit in purgatory with Schiano and waste another decade.
all resources need to go to football, no other sport really matters in the grand scheme of things. We need a Pentagon style approach to managing this.
Not sure that would do itYou think a Rescue Party should be sent to get them out?
Washington is not another. A winning record means playing better than .500 football and the 2024 Washington Huskies did not achieve thatWashington is another. And also I am pretty sure OOC wins count just as much, VT had a winning record we beat them the first time.
Somehow a school like Indiana- which lowly ol GS beat regularly- managed to get its fans to donate BEFORE being good so it could buy a roster. Here it's just always an excuse.
agree, mbb is bad! just head shaking badI am more of a football fan but GS is Saban compared to what is going on in MBB and WBB right now and both of those coaches barring a turnaround probably are fired in the coming year. Would be like GS having two 2 top 5 draft picks and losing to UDel.
That can be done while vigorously raising NIL for football.
I'll give you Washington and Minny but the rest of those were bad teams and Miami, while I pump my chest on it, was depleted if we're being honestWe beat a bunch. VT x2, Miami, NW, Minny, Washington...the issue I think people have is that we didn't beaten a "name" team unless you count MSU.
99% of the conference does not beat Oregon or Ohio State. The schedule next year sets up pretty nicely in that we avoid both, only playoff team on there is IU so hopefully we get some $$ and do something with it.
I'm more in your camp but Washington was solid, they shot themselves in the foot every chance they got but a solid team despite their recordWashington is not another. A winning record means playing better than .500 football and the 2024 Washington Huskies did not achieve that
Total record at 6-7,
Regular Season record at 6-6,
In-Conference Record at 4-5
2024 VT also finished at 6-7.
As stated Schiano has beaten 2 B1G Conference teams with winning (better than .500) records in 6 years

Watched 4 Washington games last year. The Apple Cup, Rutgers Friday night game, and their games against Indiana and Penn Strate. My impressions are the result of watching them lose those 4 games. When I look at their Schedule what came to light, beside how ridiculously difficult it was, is they did not win 1 football game away from Husky Stadium. A Goose Egg. It's a tale of 2 teams, one at home where they beat some good football teams including USC and UCLA, and one on the road where they lost every game.I'm more in your camp but Washington was solid, they shot themselves in the foot every chance they got but a solid team despite their record

I stand corrected, he did get at least two.

I'd be smiling right now, all things considered, with the biggest shyyt eating grin you've ever seen if we win that game. kids played well, coaches did a better job all around, few things to complain about as it was a football game with back and forth and sometimes you come up short. He has beaten the other B1G middle of the pack teams, and really came quite close to adding 3 more this year. And ACC teams which is basically the same thing even their top ones.
BUT he hasn't beaten the "name" B1G teams- and even if Athan doesn't fumble we'd be hearing they had a losing record blah blah. I think that is the issue and what sticks in people's craw.

couldn't believe what I was seeing but I'm not counting the psu game in my list of 'pisssed off items'.
I have been going to RU games for over 40 years, had season tickets for over 25, so I seen a lot of bad events.Yes I'm at peace with it too. After a while as RU fans if you're not prepared for a 1 in a million series of events like that, it's on you.
I just want to see the investment in the off season and with a much more favorable schedule next year some much better results.
Early in the season, Yes the defense was atrocious but as the season went along the D got better and my opinion is the Penn State game was the best Rutgers played all season even though they lost in the most disappointing way. When was the last time Rutgers’ defense was worse than what we saw this season? I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years and this was the worst defense I can remember.
There is plenty of blame to go around. The administration, AD, Coaching staff and yes, we the fans are to blame too! The administration and AD are to blame for not realizing where NIL was leading and preparing a fund, coaching gets blame for losing some close games that "could've been won" and we the fans are to blame for not providing enough donated funds to fund the NIL in its entirety. I am not a rich man but will throw some money RU's way to fund NIL.Oh, it's blame the fans time again. Ha, ha. It's the fans' fault. OK.
Back to the original question:
2025
Total defense: Rutgers #128/136. 432.8 yards/game, 7.6 yards per play.
2016
Total Defense: #97/128 . 450.7 yards/game, 6.35 yards per play
I've been following Rutgers football for 60 years and I still can't figure out who cares less about it....the administration or the New Jersey public. Frankly, I'm amazed at how far Greg Schiano has brought this program. There is plenty of blame to go around. The administration, AD, Coaching staff and yes, we the fans are to blame too! Somehow, I let myself get sucked in again Saturday. The thought of the defense giving up the game at the end never left the back of my mind, but I was so comfortable with how our running game was going that the AK fumble was like getting hit in the face with a 2x4.
Of course, it knocked me back into Rutgers reality so that I had almost no doubt in my mind after the 3rd and 2 sneak on the next drive fell short that RU was going to fail on 4th down.
