I'd love to be a fly on the wall of the Iowa AD's office this week. I wonder what she's thinking after yesterday's loss. Iowa got pummeled by tOSU in the "National" Duals and now they lost to their interstate rival. I don't see any Iowa wrestler winning a national title this year, and there are several teams that seem to be ahead of them for the team score. And the future continues to look bleak. I don't anticipate Iowa being a contender for the national championship any time soon. If they are content with just being a decent D1 program, I guess the current status is OK. But if they want to get back to the level they were at under Gable, something has to change.

Who would have thought the word 'timid' would apply to Iowa wrestling?

7 wrestlers without TD against ISU; 5 total TDs against tOSU. Those are numbers formerly reserved for PSU duals.

Skipping the handshake line isn't enough to make you look tough.

Wow they are nuts.

"If Arnold wins h2h and against Haines, you guys would have to be complete morans to not want him to be the starter. Thankfully none of you are making the decision.

"Book it".

The better post was a little further down, claiming Iowa should start Arnold because PSU's coaches would fear that decision.

News flash to the single-cell HR brain trust: Cael focuses on what he can control (his team's effort) and doesn't worry about what he can't (the opponent's lineup).
Two things. The OP does say "if" not "when" and he is correct, if either one of them beats Levi, Iowa would be insane not to start that guy for the rest of the season. Odds are low. LOL.

Second, Levi is a bad matchup for Kennedy. We know Levi can and does dominate PK and the margin is getting wider each match. While it's correct that Cael and PSU "fear" no one, there is at least the "uncertainty of the unknown" with Gabe. Again, it's very unlikely he would beat Levi, but his current odds are probably higher than PK (which are near zero based on actual head-to-head data) just for the simple fact that we haven't seen Levi dominate Gabe (yet).

Since the Cael era began at PSU, Iowa fans have been subjected to annual drubbings by PSU almost every February and March. But they’ve always been able to fall back on the annual victory over ISU, to exert their dominance.

Today brings a harsh new reality that not only are they not going to beat us, they also came out on the losing side of the CyHawk dual.

Anyone who saw Iowa "win" its opening cream puff dual at the semi-National Duals with four Iowa wrestlers winning their matches without getting a takedown could have seen it coming.

It seems to have been building over the past few years. It wasn't too long ago they had guys who dared to wrestle... Spencer, DeSanto, Eierman, Woods, Marinelli, Kemerer, and Brooks, to name a few.

Is it the way they are developing or the way they are recruiting?

One other thought, does Tom put his stamp on where the slumlord spends his money?

On Flo’s live chat there’s a dude who posted that the transfers haven’t been in the room long enough to wrestle Iowa Style and attack.

What in the ever-living **** does Iowa Style even mean?
Push, push, push and coaching staff and fans sing, "heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn!!!!"
To be honest, the wrestlers are a little lax with their pushing and the crowd still trys but it seems some of the enthusiasm is missing from the chorus of "heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn!!!"

I mean, Iowa did just have a day filled with of high level recruits committing. So the future at least appears brighter than the present for them. (If they end up actually wrestling and wrestling for Iowa.)

Let's not forget the drubbing they got from tOSU two weeks ago. This does not appear to be a stellar season for the Hawks.

If only winning the recruiting battle was more than 10% of the game.

Iowa has a very good lineup... but with no offense... and Bailey looking disinterested. Not sure they can get a ton better by the end of the season. feel like they are who they are... and defense is what will carry them. Its like a team of Beau Barletts... . very hard to score on but the lack of offense just leaves a very small margin for error!

MSU158 is the best. The Brands must pay him quite a sum to carry their water on HR.

“Be honest, are you even truly an Iowa fan? You seem like the person that always looks for the negative, when so much positive is staring you right in the face. Iowa was considerably better than one of the most dominant dynasties in all of sports, for 2 years in a row. One of those years was done during Covid and the other dealt with ridiculous Covid restrictions the following year.

Covid SLAMMED their momentum to a halt and messed up the entire plan with the new facility. Without Covid, they win 2 in a row, have that facility finished years earlier and they take huge advantage of that. Instead, their success gets diminished as much as humanly possible and they lose all momentum. NIL makes recruiting the wild west and the compliance department takes a hard line stance while all the other top schools are using it to the greyest areas possible.

Again, YES, it is entirely acceptable to want more. I completely understand that. But, MOST of you on here that are complaining the loudest have NO FRICKING IDEA what you are actually complaining about..”

Tom Brands has the final word on the Iowa effort.

"Awesome."

I like how he said that "He'll defer that question." The question being "What makes the Iowa State team so tough today?" If I were that reporter, I would keep asking that question at every presser until he answers it. ;)
