I expect they will be able to take us off the dribble a lot more than previous teams. They should shoot better from 3 and they are a lot bigger than the blood donors to date. Ole Miss is a real team and we handled them but I expect a tough nite for the black and gold

I have Izzo PTSD - seems like the Hawks have been the better team and lost many times to him.
Very rarely have we been the better team. While I’m very much a believer in McCollum and this team, this looks like one of Izzo’s better teams of late. 5.5 seems pretty light. I’m certainly not counting us out, and I guess Vegas isn’t either.

Big Z: Not sure if “very rarely” would be an accurate characterization. The all-time record is 77-60 Michigan St. I also looked up the record since 2015. It’s 8-5 Mich St. They certainly have won more than us, but we have had some good wins against them, too, which made us a better team. Of course, AI can be inaccurate. So, please lmk if I’m wrong.
A side note: the most emotional Iowa win against Mich St came after Chris Street’s passing at Mich St when we were behind by double digits and came back in the last few minutes and won. This was when Acie Earl had Chris’s number 40 shaved in the back of his head. I think we followed that win with one against Michigan at home.

I don't know what is going to happen in 44 hours' time, but what I expect is no matter what happens, Ben McCollum's squad is not just gonna roll over and play dead.

MSU could very likely win, but they're gonna know they earned a victory against a worthy opponent and it wasn't just taken from a weaker team.

The couple of times I've seen MSU play they looked very good.
That carr has 52 inch vertical? Athletic freak.
Big guy has soft hands and skills
Their pg fears is a magician with ball.
Just cannot see hawks handling them..just ever matched.
This could be izzos last FF team.

No way Carr has a 52 inch standing vert.

They're citing verticals that include gather steps these days. Just makes it more confusing. Standing vert has always been the standard.

That said, Carr can SKY

College basketball lines are heavily computer generated until about the 2nd week of the NFL playoffs

There was no tournament till 1998, no? Not sure which screw job you’re referring to. Please remind me.

I forget what year it was....hopefully somebody remembers....

If we had beaten MSU we likely would have made the NCAA Tournament but some very questionable officiating helped us lose the game.

I would guess you are correct but Izzo has said it is a program record and MSU has had some high flyers like Jason Richardson in past

Oh, yes, now I remember. We were up most of the game by double digits. And the refs called a foul on Marble and things went south from there. We ended up as the runner-up in the NIT that year. Tough loss against Michigan State, courtesy of the refs!
Baylor and their big guy killed us in the championship game

Yeah, they knocked marble down at the top of the key, it was such an egregious call that it threw the whole team off kilter. Then MSU beat there chest like they were awesome. One of the worst screwjobs I'd everxseen

No chance that this Michigan St team is not going to make the final four, my expectations for tomorrow's game is for Iowa to hang in there and not cave in like last years team did at Wisconsin. Nobody that knows college basketball is going to give Iowa even a slim chance to win tomorrow so go there and let it all hang out and let the chips fall where they may. That's my expectations. It's not like Iowa has never won at the Breslin Center before.

The Hawkeyes are 20-47 all-time in East Lansing, but Iowa has won two of the last three games at the Breslin Center. Iowa won 88-58 on Feb. 13, 2021, fell 63-61 in 2023 and was victorious, 78-71, in its last game in East Lansing on Feb. 20, 2024

Tuesday is going to be a battle as both teams want to control tempo and grind you down.

I like the hawks 73-69

Tom Izzo on Tuesday's game against Iowa:

“I was impressed for a couple of years watching Drake play and (new Iowa coach) Ben McCollum. Like Indiana in football, Iowa has taken a lot of that team, including his best player - who was player of the year in that league - and they know the system.”
