I think so too. The only common opponent was Eastern Wayne. WC has shifty backs and tall wide receivers, hell, it seemed like nearly the whole team is 6'2. Their pass rush was really good last night, they had somebody in our qb's face as soon as he planted the back foot most of the time. And their linebackers close on the ball fast.
They did a good job of getting our linebackers blocked. When we adjusted to it, they went to the flats with short passes...And timely deep throws. They're a well coached club. They don't have as much talent as Reidsville, but don't take the Eagles lightly. They play hard from whistle to whistle.
Yeah he has 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing. He’s their Dionte. Their running backs don’t seem like they have many rushing yards on the year.
It will be a lot better if he runs want be throwing picks. Main thing against Reidsville have best athlete against Neal. Reagan put good athletes around him. Neal can beat you by himself if Coach goes brain dead and tries to challenge him.
Let’s just say il be in a Neal Jersey Friday night.
Vanceboro star DJ Davis (6-1, 195 senior) is going to be a headache for Reidsville. He ran for 241 in the semifinal win over SWE and added 148 yards passing on a 9-of-19 night. 2 TD passes and one int.

Reidsville and West Craven met in the 1990 3-A playoffs with Reidsville winning 27-21 in the second round. The Rams had defeated Eastern Randolph 19-12 in the first round. Reidsville lost the following week to Southern Nash 21-16.
Found this about West Craven ... school opened in 1971, about the same time a new Havelock High School campus opened on the other side of the county. Havelock was almost was renamed East Craven but thankfully somebody got it right, keeping the school name Havelock.
West Craven has had several players who made it to the NFL including Jesse Campbell, Justin Hardy, Roland Hooks, George Koonce and Anthony Wright.
Anybody know the names of the high schools that formed West Craven?

I was at East Carolina while West Columbus Pierre Bell was playing. He was a great pirate. Two great programs, wishing for an injury free, great game!

I played football and basketball against Pierre he was a DUDE!!!! He was cool guy as well.
The 1990 game featured W Craven star Lee Becton who had a great career at Notre Dame. The Rams jumped to a 21-0? Halftime lead as Becton was used as a decoy. Second half they gave him the ball and W Craven nearly pulled it out, fumbling on the Rams 2 yd line as the game ended.
West Craven opened in 1971 before that the high school Vanceboro was named Farmlife high school. The communities of Jasper Cove city in Fort Barnwell were merged to go to West Craven and the kids from Bridgeton. Farmlife had had some pretty successful football teams Roland hooks was probably the best running back we ever had. When they opened West Craven the kids from across the river had never played organized football so we had to start at Ground Zero and teach everything how many points you got for a touchdown and so forth.
An interest in note on Farmlife high school in Vanceboro there was a program for educating Farm kids in the state and several schools were built and were named Farmlife but the one in Vanceboro was the very first one. There is now an historical marker at the stoplight in Vanceboro that notes that fact.

Hooks was at Farmlife. I wasn’t comparing him with Becton. I helped my cousin coach Lee in little league. He was a man among boys. I also helped coach little league when it first started in Vanceboro. I was still in high school. I have 2 brothers 8 & 9 years younger get than me that played one year. Jesse Campbell was on that team. We have had many that went to college and the NFL. Someone mentioned Pierre Bell he was a RB at West Craven. I played with Ernest Butler who went to State and played. Big strong guy. Held state record in shot putt in high school. Something over 60 feet. Great guy that died a few years ago.
West Craven is a very well coached team. Over the past few seasons, they've paid their dues. This game will be a lot closer than maybe some of our western NC fans may realize.
