Agree on 2008, by November they could play with anybody in the country. Strongly disagree about it not being close. The 2025 team took three very, very good teams down to the wire- could have beat them actually.2008 and it's not really close

Yeah. Except the Hawks were 3-1 when Stanzi took over, and he played half the game they lost (v.Pitt)I think 2008 was better but this year's version was probably the 2nd best team considering the schedule. Just think if Kirk let's Stanzi start far sooner in the year than he did in 2008.
3-1 against Western Illinois or whoever they played doesn't tell the whole story. Really it wasn't until they figured out that the offense needed to be "Quit f**kin' around and give the ball to Shonne" did the offense start to click.Yeah. Except the Hawks were 3-1 when Stanzi took over, and he played half the game they lost (v.Pitt)
They then proceeded to lose the next 2 games.
And beat one of the better PSU teams in KFs tenure. That PSU team finished ranked #8.The 2008 team lost to an Illinois team with a losing record and lost to three other teams with 4 losses on the year, including a home loss to NW.
Stanzi didn't play that second half against Pitt. I maintain Iowa wins that game if he does.Yeah. Except the Hawks were 3-1 when Stanzi took over, and he played half the game they lost (v.Pitt)
They then proceeded to lose the next 2 games.
I was at the Pitt game with my dad. I believe we out gained them by 100+ yards and were +2 in TO margin. It was a pretty fluky loss2008 team was legit. One of the most disappointing outcomes for a Kirk team.
