I’d be curious how Caj, MHR, Christina, etc. make up the local H.S. rosters. I didn’t realize SJF’s BR representation is the lowest.
Like I said earlier in this thread about Kudos to MC and BR for raising the bar in the CCL with the type of teams they have this year, but the arrow is also up at 77th and Western Ave.
Since Coach Hopkins’ (St. Cajetan) hire, representation from the SCC has increased each year on test day and on the field.
And with new President Mark Kelly ‘84 (St. Barnabas parish), I don’t see St. Rita losing any momentum in SCC country.
SCC is great. The support from the community/schools/all southside. Can’t beat it!!
All schools benefit. Now, I’d love to see some of these schools get their programs back up and running solo (Linus, CK).

Not to sound all old school like Coach McMillen of St. Francis about eye black, but one great thing about that SJF picture is it is refreshing to see 3 teams in the State Championship represented and zero dyed blonde hair. Ok. Old man rant over.
It would look the same as this picture. The days of Rice winning the neighborhood, MHR, Beverly, Catherine’s, etc is long gone. I think it’s clear they are okay with that as well. The last couple years Marist did very well at MHR. Laurence has been taking kids from SCC schools the last couple years, that historically over the last two decades kids never went there. Yes, the occasional 1-2, but not in large groups. Larry is doing very well. As for Rita, it’s been mentioned a few times in threads. There has been a big uptick in neighborhood families choosing Rita, not just football players and I believe coach Hopkins presence has something to do with that.
Couldn’t get SC field? I was at Lawlors all day just in case.
I gotta believe half-day or no school for both schools. What about all the SCC schools? I see a lot of youngsters playing hooky.
Welcome to the world of "Remote Learning" brought to you by Covid 2020. No more snow days, they get "Remote Learning" days now. It's a win/win. Kids log in and do what each teacher instructs them to do from home, which is normally a very light assignment, and when they are done they are done so it's not very time consuming or demanding. Win for the school because it counts as a day in session that doesn't have to be made up. Oh to be young againI gotta believe half-day or no school for both schools. What about all the SCC schools? Many or most of the nations public schools could benefit from some of that old school Catholic discipline. According to the most recent results of the National Assessment Test, student achievement in math and reading has cratered. An appalling number of kids who graduate from city and suburban schools lack basic skills. And no one knows why.
I am at a suburban public middle school. The IAR testing is the state's assessment, and students do struggle. However, we have MAP and/or Fast Bridge testing to monitor students' growth. They do a lot better on those. But, there are obvious problems that you have correctly mentioned.

Is it me or does a 3pm start on a Wednesday for the State Championship seem like a miss? Apologies if this has been debated I’ve been on the road the past two weeks.
Obviously not ideal but from the 2 games yesterday, the players seemed to overcome the awkwardness quite well. And the crowds will be what the crowds will be. But viewing numbers should be solid.
I think viewing numbers in the evening during the week are going to be higher than late Saturday afternoon/evening.
Weekday evening may be better than Saturday night, but viewership of even the biggest HS FB game is hardly measurable at best. And these games aren't particularly highly billed games going in. The neighborhood rivalry is neat, but holds little appeal outside of a handful of square miles. And the other game is perhaps the least anticipated final because of the perception (right or wrong) that it won't be worth watching by the mid second quarter.
Arlington Heights can't come soon enough. With the attendance we have seen and the brutal conditions which keep people understandably at home, I look forward to being able to watch a whole bunch of games in 72 degree temperatures on Thanksgiving weekend in a few years. NIU campus is in rough shape and I am sure the IHSA is looking to get away from ISU after their decision to close campus.
I think you are downplaying the amount of people paying attention to the 8A final. Sure it could be over quickly, but there are passionate fans on both sides of the field. There are also some pretty good storylines.
I know every bar/restaurant in Oswego is having a viewing party. The Oswego community doesn't look at it like it's going to be a loss, no reason to celebrate. We take pride in our program and support it. It's home grown.
Did I miss something regarding Arlington Heights amd why everyone is making assumptionsthat playing there in the future is a done deal? For one there's still political nonsense that needs to get approved before shovels go in the ground and then have the Bears come out and said they would welcome the high school championships and would the IHSA be able to afford playing there?
I've been to (6) NIU home games this season. What is it about their facilities that you deem "rough shape".
And Oswego should be proud, I'll be rooting for the former Little 7 conference team, but every bar having watch parties hurts viewership numbers more than it helps them because it's less TVs tuned in. Overall, these games, regardless of when they get played, aren't the draw that many here think they are.
Good points, It certainly will be an intriguing option especially with the stadium village for lack of a better way to say it. In therory there will be plenty of places to eat/drink and spend money.
I'd have to assume both the IHSA and Bears would see the benefit.

I understand how the ratings work and also agree about the draw. That being said, I saw more people on my FB page commenting on both games last night than I ever do on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
I think the campus was pretty roundly panned on this site when it hosted a few years back.
To avoid specifics, the campus as a whole looks and feels like 1983 Sarajevo. Not trying to be cruel. That's just the actual feel when on campus.
