It really pisses me off that after Cal left he made the sweet 16 and looks like another good season. He totally checked out the last seasons at UK but now seems engaged and wants to win.
I think we know now that the rot at UK was and is Barnhart. giving Stoops more money a year to spite Cal and refusing to add positions and upgrade facilities etc for Cal. No wonder he was checked out. Barnhart needed to go more than Cal , hopefully the divorce turns out best for Cal and us

Then you don't know what you're looking at. Both these teams would annihilate us if we played tomorrow.

We have a long way to go but we need to get there relatively fast. Its clear we are severely less talented than the top 10 or so teams.
Based on the eye test we've got an uphill climb. We seem to be stagnant on offense. Not nearly enough movement off the ball. Defensively our awareness is lacking and too much ball watching. You rarely see guys in a stance or moving with the ball to be in position to rotate, help, and recover.

Yup, screw Duke all day. Arkansas is gonna be good. Athletic and NBA talent. If Cal can ever get over his choking demons they will be a hard out. Maybe the S16 run broke that streak he had going. Who knows.
Man, I’m with you. I was WAAAYYYY done with Cal at the end. Like I had an unhealthy amount of anger watching the interview with Mitch. Then a few days later he was gone, and I was happy. Then he did the video from his house and I kinda felt some sorrow. Not really for him, but just for what was. I caught myself rooting for Arky a bit last yr. I choose to remember the way Cal rode into Lex and not the way he rode out. That and I just absolutely $&@/ing hate dUKe.

If we had the right lineups and didnt play BG then we'd be in a game capable of winning against these teams. If we played hard that is

Me too I felt the same way. I never dreamed he would fall off like that, I never thought I’d ever want him gone. Still feels weird not having him on the sidelines.

I thought about this the other day. If there was a way Cal could have gone to another school for a year and then come back, maybe that "excitement" could have been renewed. Silly thought, but I thought I'd share.

Not me. I won’t lie. I support the coaches while they are here because I love the school but I was ready to move on for a long time. I watched us building sand castles while everyone else was building mansions. I’m not anti-Cal or a Cal hater, still love the guy personally. Not my kind of coach.

Both of these teams would pound us by 20+
Watching the top teams play so far, and even some in the 15-20 range, we have a lot of work to do. We don’t have the athleticism, the NBA talent, or the guards to really compete. Even our frontcourt without JQ is far behind. Moreno is good and JQ will be great. Garrison is so much worse than the top teams players.

The baby stroller with the dog along the road while a reporter tried to interview him had to be one of the most hilarious endings ever though. It might even beat Cutler chasing down Billy Clyde.

The Calipari we all loved seemed to die after 2015. The spark was gone. Maybe it was all just John Robic, I don’t know. I remember when Calipari said he wasn’t going to coach into his 60s early in his career here. But now he’s coaching past retirement age. It’s sad to see someone with the fire he had when he came here become the husk he has become.

A part of me is also sad he didn’t just retire with dignity and become a Joe B Hall figure for the program. I think a lot of it has to do with Mitch Barnhart. It seems all our coaches end up pissed off about something and I wonder what or who it is?

After Higgins screwed us the Fox and Monk year he lost a lot of what he had left. Covid took the rest. He needed Robic more than ever then and it imploded.

One point clearly stands out to me that you made above. Lack of movement off the ball. When you stand around like we do you become predictable and easy to guard. I liked some of the stuff Pell ran last night. Wish Pope would incorporate some into our offense.
