Rutgers has slipped down to 136

Rutgers is the worst Power 5 school in the rankings.

RU SOS currently sits at 335

Next opponent UNLV is at 114

Purdue at 2 and Michigan at 4 wait in the wings

Rounding off, if we were 120 of 360 D1 Bball schools, then we’d be in the top third.

in football, that would be the equivalent of being #40 out of 120 FBS schools.

Seems about equal.

Using Kenpom as a guide, even if we were ranked #75 we’d still have only one loss more than expected. You could say the same for Tennessee, having lost to a lower rated team in Kansas.

Still a long way to go, and our SOS will improve dramatically when we get into conference play. That doesn’t mean we’re any good, but maybe we’re not as bad as we appear right now. We’ll see.

If I had to guess, I’d say we’ll finish around 90-95 in Kenpom, and we won’t continue to be rated at the bottom of P4 teams.

I would add Utah to the list (of P4 schools).

In bball the P4 moniker is less critical than in football. You have the BE teams and WCC teams that also compete at a P4 level in basketball.

If you consider “the P6” for basketball, then there are conceivably 15 teams we could surpass in Kenpom, should we get our act together and finish as high as say, #81 (with Oregon currently at 82 in Kenpom).

It’s a tall order because we obviously suck right now. We have to clean up our first half performance and continue to play better in the second half of games in order to have a decent (let’s say .500) season.

Not only did our university basically pretend like NIL didn’t exist for 4 years, but they obstructed those who were trying to get anything done in that space. It certainly is within the realm of possibility that we are at the bottom this season.

Enjoyed the game. Liked that they built up lead in second half and didn’t give it back Pike sat people in second half who weren’t productive. Past 3 defenders Ogbole was aggressive on both ends of the court. The late Buchanan show in the last 5 or so minutes was a pleasant surprise. He made a contested 3 point which became 4 points; he made a circus 2 pointer which became a 3 pointer and then had a great drive to the basket past 3 defenders. Hope he can continue to play like that.
