If MG isn't good enough for the BIG, then why did KF and Lester pay him the money, especially knowing he was injured and wouldn't participate in spring ball?Level of competition

LOLYou know if he retires he don't get paid out whats left right? And he is gonna retire when he wants to retire.
Unless it is negotiated but Kirk should have plenty of money to do anything he wants. You know if he retires he don't get paid out whats left right? And he is gonna retire when he wants to retire.
Fans are not so much fickle as they are picky. There are only so many dollars and so many hours that can be devoted to sports. Teams that underperform or that play boring styles are not gonna attract those hours or those dollars. It's not difficult to figure out.Weren't they sold out the last 3 seasons?
Can you get an uptick?
Have you seen camp Randall and PSU stadiums the last few weeks?
Empty seats galore
That could never happen at Iowa?
Fans are fickle.
I don’t have any credibility on it. Just saw it on HN and since this board was mentioned in that HN post I wanted to see if this rumor was going around here.He usually bitches about getting one with four years left so we'll see if he tries again.
I doubt OC poster has credibility on the subject, but I don't that the Kirk buyout is insurmountable. I do believe they had a huge hand in getting Brian out (Kirk would've kept him OC, just believe it), and I don't think the buyout would scare them off as well. The donors may love Kirk but, hopefully, they know that Kirk is not the Iowa program.
That’s not true. Maybe not 60% empty. But even in 2019 Iowa had 11,000 empty seats on Senior Day vs Illinois with Nate Stanley as QB. Attendance is stronger now than it’s been in 20 yearsI dont think Kinnick would ever lose attendence no matter what happens. Empty seats for basketball home games for 20+ games, unlike home football games where there's six? Not comparable.
Granted, wouldn't there be an uptick with a new coach?
So clearly Iowa fans have voted with feet, filing into kinnick the last 4 years at a record pace.Fans are not so much fickle as they are picky. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudeeeeee you forgot the main man, Tory Taylor! So clearly Iowa fans have voted with feet, filing into kinnick the last 4 years at a record pace.
Guess that means hawks have not underperformed or been too boring
Between Kaleb Johnson, Caden wetjen,Cooper dejean,Charlie Jones and pick sixes every season, hawks have had a good number of explosive scoring plays in recent years.
Yeah, she did such a crappy job with the basketball coach. FFS, you're such a rube.I dislike beth very much. she would not know who to hire. unless it's a soccer coach.
Jury is out. Every basketball coach we have hired people thought was "the one" and this is now 25 years or so in. Lickliter won big where he was before Iowa.Yeah, she did such a crappy job with the basketball coach. FFS, you're such a rube.
Say what?? Not sure how you've come to this conclusion....I dislike beth very much. she would not know who to hire. unless it's a soccer coach.
Sure you will, blah, blah, blah, just like most of your posts...Just tell when it’s done and I’ll hire the moving truck
He doesn't think women s/b in charge of men.Say what?? Not sure how you've come to this conclusion....
So why is it such a big deal? He loves the young men who play for him. They're like his sons, and they care about him. Add to that he's 70 years old. People get more emotional as they age. I'm three years younger then Kirk, and it creeps up on me now way more then it used to. Maybe its the feeling you have looking at things as you realize that most of the sand is on the bottom of the hourglass. Would you rather he be more like Fran who went from be red faced angry to acting like he didn't give a crap once his sons left? It’s actually absurd how much he cries. No other coach in any sport does that.
Jury is always out until... but I don't think you'll find people many suggesting Ben was anything but a good hire.Jury is out. Every basketball coach we have hired people thought was "the one" and this is now 25 years or so in. Lickliter won big where he was before Iowa.
I couldn't give two ***** about basketball, let alone Iowa basketball, but I was intrigued by the Men's BB search to see how it was handled by Beth. Fran didn't have to be let go, but Beth made the best decision for the program after it hit its plataeu. We'll see if it works out but it did tell me that she most likely feels the same on Kirk.
Maybe, but I doubt it. The problem with Frans "plateau" is that he was playing in an half empty Carver and had been surpassed by the womens program. Not to mention the defections as players started jumping ship. You don't see Kirks best players leaving, EVER. The football team still sells out and were in the mix most of the year.I couldn't give two ***** about basketball, let alone Iowa basketball, but I was intrigued by the Men's BB search to see how it was handled by Beth. Exactly, and pretty silly thing to be concerned about. "Oh, our coach cares too much".Becoming more emotional is a common, not universal, but common symptom of aging. It's just that simple.
I think Pat Fitzgerald brings Brian Ferentz in as offensive coordinator. It’s 100% Fitzgerald. The whole staff will remain.
Well, she undoubtedly does not make these types of decisions without seeking guidance. She did great with the bball hire.He doesn't think women s/b in charge of men.
find a new joke. This one's beyond stale.I think Pat Fitzgerald brings Brian Ferentz in as offensive coordinator.
Care to elaborate?I dislike beth very much. she would not know who to hire. unless it's a soccer coach.
I think Pat Fitzgerald brings Brian Ferentz in as offensive coordinator.
Honestly, it could be a lot worse. Especially if this year was already the plan and now knowing the type of openings we’d be up against. I’d much rather have Fitz than Mark Stoops. It’s 100% Fitzgerald. The whole staff will remain.
The entire staff will not be remaining.Honestly, it could be a lot worse. Especially if this year was already the plan and now knowing the type of openings we’d be up against. I’d much rather have Fitz than Mark Stoops.
I don't think this is all that relevant to the opinions of the poster in question.Well, she undoubtedly does not make these types of decisions without seeking guidance. She did great with the bball hire.
It is sarcasm.BTW, here's the latest post from the "inside source" on HN

I'm officially retracting everything I said. Iowa is not looking at a different coach, and Kirk Ferentz will likely be finishing out his contract here. I'm sorry I gave everyone totally false information and I should've been better than that. I failed. You all have my sincere apologies; please forget I said anything.
Maybe the high profile coach’s name rhymes with speck or Drool. With all of the major jobs currently open, Iowa would struggle to get a “high profile” coach to replace Ferentz.
Honestly, it could be a lot worse.
This^^![]()
Fitzgerald's last 4 seasons at Northwestern
3-9
7-2*
3-9
1-11
*Covid season
Take out the fluky pandemic season and it's pretty clear the wheels had come off.
I mean for f*cks sake Northwestern had a worse offense than Brian Ferentz in 2021 and 2022.
When Ferentz hangs it up we shouldn't settle for the shittier version of KF.
I wouldn’t expect it too. I’m hoping they could keep Lester and either Parker or Wallace. The entire staff will not be remaining.
You don't take division II players to Drake and finish 31-4. He's a good coach.Jury is out. Every basketball coach we have hired people thought was "the one" and this is now 25 years or so in. Lickliter won big where he was before Iowa.
I believe mark would be a down move. He is not too impressiveIf Mark Stoops is this “high profile name,” then that is the epitome of a lateral movement.
