After all the games on Tuesday are finished, all 18 teams will be ranked 1-18.

Here is the criteria that will be used:

1 - Record

2 - Head-to-Head results

3 - Plus/Minus Tiebreaker (maximum of 20 points; so as not to encourage teams to run up the score)

4 - Total Points Scored

5 - Total Points Allowed

6 - AP ranking as of Monday, Nov. 24

Wednesday’s other games

The teams that finish ranked Nos. 5-14 after two rounds will also play on Wednesday.

There are some minor differences in how these matchups will be determined.

Games between teams from the same conference will be avoided. The tournament guarantees that.

The tournament will also attempt, but not guarantee, to avoid matchups between non-conference teams that play during the season. (Like Syracuse vs. Tennessee, which is part of the ACC/SEC Challenge next week).

Thursday’s stayovers

The bottom four teams will have to stay in Vegas and play on Thursday.

Those games will be played at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Vegas time) in the Michelob Ultra Arena.

If UNLV does not qualify for the championship or third-place game, the Runnin’ Rebels will fill one of the two matchups regardless of ranking.

If a Thursday matchup pits two teams from the same conference or the teams play in 2025-26, the matchups will be switched.

If somehow the matchups cannot be switched, then the higher ranked team (based on the above criteria) will be moved to Wednesday and the lowest ranked team (No. 14) scheduled for Wednesday will move to Thursday.

Thanks for posting this. I didn’t realize there were any Thursday games.

Only way we avoid a Thanksgiving day game is to beat ND tomorrow. Otherwise at 0-2 and our point differential we are Thursday bound, probably against UNLV

Michigan routed San Diego State 94-54

Maryland top UNLV by 10

Auburn over Oregon and Gonzaga over Alabama.

Very good chance that with a loss today, Rutgers plays either San Diego State or UNLV on Thursday

@bac2therac - good stuff - appreciate the research

While crummy for the guys to spend Thanksgiving away from their families, this means we can go all out to beat ND, knowing that if we fall short, we get a day of rest before the final game.

I know Pikiell is getting destroyed on this board and perhaps deservedly so. But he was smart to limit our best player's minutes against UT and focus on trying to beat ND.

Playing on Thanksgiving seems like an apt punishment for the way this team is playing. . . .

I don’t see us doing well against UNLV either who is our likely opponent

Creighton loses by 18 to Iowa State

Creighton 0-2 and -25

Rutgers 0-2 and -30

UNLV locked in for Thursday...3 spots open. Rutgers all but certain to play Thursday.

The only other 2 schools that can go 0-2 are San Diego State and Alabama and the latter is highly unlikely

Actually Oregon will be 0-2 if San Diego State beats them but they will avoid a big 10 matchup

Unless some conflict arises with conference teams it looks like either San Diego State or UNLV on Turkey Day

If it is Rutgers, UNLV, SD ST and Creighton, RU plays UNLV or SD ST since those 2 are both in Moutain west and can not play each other if avoidable.

Oregon loses to San Diego State 97-80.

Oregon 0-2 -28

UNLV is down 25 to Bama in 2nd half. Looking like bottom 4 are Creighton, Oregon, Rutgers, UNLV

This seems like a real toss up. I feel like winning this game would make up for the CCSU loss. And it would prevent what otherwise will be at least a 6 game losing streak.
