Can Herbstreit cool it with his dog?

It's kind of bizarre. The man can't be without his dog. Somehow its being normalized as acceptable behavior. He's a grown man who can't even go to work without his dog. The was a clip a couple weeks of him "putting his dog to bed" (which is as bizarre as it sounds) b/c he had to call a game. I'm a pretty doting father to my kids, but he was putting more into his dog's bedtime than I do my human children who have souls. I've known dog people who were over the top in their love for their dog, but they could at least live functional lives apart from their dog. It's weird.

Agree. I think I read somewhere the last one died so this is the new golden retriever. Like UGA XV or whichever number they're on now

Herbstreit was known to bang coeds on his campus visits for Gameday. I have that on first hand authority. Sadly, these sk-anks would seek him out, but it happened quite frequently.

Do like everyone else and stop watching that mess.
I haven't really watched it in years, in part b/c I hardly have time to sit down and watch games so there is even less time to sit down and watch people talk about games. But it's also just not anywhere near as good as it used to be. I liked David Pollack on there, but they fired him and then majorly downgraded with McAfee. I put it on the tv a couple times this year just to have it on in the background while I was doing other things.

Agree...it's really bizarre. I saw a clip at some point this season that had Herbstreit throwing a ball outside his room in a hotel hall. The guy must be one of the most arrogant, entitled people out there.

NO! We LOVE Peter! We have a golden retriever too and we love it. Sulley loves seeing Peter on TV and when he’s on gameday our Sulley goes crazy happy!

I don’t understand why. I set my alarm on Saturday mornings, we rush downstairs, put gameday on, make coffee, have a bowl of cereal, and watch from 9-noon. pat’s kicking contest is the BEST part!

When we had a dog, I loved the dog, but it was still a dog. I wasn't about to radically adjust anything about my life to accommodate what the dog liked or wanted. There is no way I would walk around my neighborhood with a dog on a leash and a bag to pick up dog crap. If an alien saw humans doing that, they would assume the dog was the ruling species in the group.

I hear people say "we love our dog just like a child". Those people never have a child. I always tell them "no, you don't love that dog like a child". If they argue, I always say "Let me ask you a question, and I want you to think before you answer. Would you give up your life for that dog?". If they say no, I tell them they don't love that dog like a child. If they say yes, I tell them I don't need to talk to them anymore because they are obviously insane.

It's always interesting to see how much people love including their dogs in everyday life. For many pet owners, dogs are part of the family, and making sure they're comfortable is just as important as spending quality time with them.
One simple way to keep dogs happy is by providing a comfortable dog bed where they can relax after a busy day. A supportive dog bed gives pets their own space to rest, helping them sleep better and feel more secure. Many pet owners prefer dog bed options with orthopedic foam, soft fabrics, and washable covers for added comfort and convenience.
Whether your dog enjoys relaxing at home or tagging along on adventures, a quality dog bed is a worthwhile investment. A well-rested dog is often happier, healthier, and ready to enjoy every moment with its family. Check this store https://www.pet-empire.eu

Sorry I`m not going to criticize anyone for caring for their pet like Herbie. Maybe a little over the top but more important things to be offended by.

Yeah, I'd challenge those folks to say that in the visiting room of a children's hospital.

I say that as a guy who owns the best dog in the world, by the way.

I have three children and seven grandchildren. I’ve had twelve dogs in my lifetime. Its not so much like a child; more like a good friend. You either feel it or you don’t I guess. And you best believe that dog would give his/her life for you.

I’d hazard a guess dogs don’t much care for you either lol.

You are spot on about dogs being like a good friend, a best friend sometimes.

Actually, I love dogs and dogs absolutely love me. I had dogs growing up and my parents had them after I was an adult. I haven't had one in a long time because I've always lived in a neighborhood and I don't like to have to fence in a dog or keep them on a lead all the time. We always let our dogs run free because we always lived in rural(ish) areas. If I lived on land in a rural area, I would definitely have a dog.

We had the chance to dog sit a pure bread golden retreiver for a few months for a friend, this was a "red" whose owner was having some medical issues, they are pretty cool/smart dogs and definantly try to understand you and want is happening and love them some tennis balls.

A friend at church told me his son is struggling as to whether he will put his dog down because the dog is his son's best friend. I can identify with his son. I dread the day I will have to put down my beagle, who suffers from seizures. Harrison, my beagle, is probably my favorite dog I have ever had (and I greatly loved my other dogs). At my age, I'm not sure I'd get another dog, though I'd very much want to. Lou Holtz once said that his dog was his best friend. Someone asked: "Over your wife?". Lou responded, "Look, if I locked both my wife and my dog in the trunk of my car and then let them out after 2 hours, when they both crawled out, of the two, only my dog would kiss me".
