Some of those names have shown they can do it….Smith has not.
Keeping the current roster and bringing back the lost recruits would be a pretty solid starting point. Mix in a few important portal players and I think they could be pretty competitive.

That was a stupid penalty. You need to be aware of what’s going on.

So what's the downside? You're likely paying him relatively nothing versus top-paid FBS coaches and can replace him with minor expenses. Nothing but upside with Smith, unless I'm missing something, and he has the additional bonus that he can begin immediately at tying-down and stabilize the 2026 roster including 2026 recruits. So what is it that I'm missing???
The downside would be losing. On the other hand, if we can't get a proven high-level HC (and I don't believe that we will) maybe take a flyer since we have to.

kNU TD, Lateef, on a 11-yard scramble. DDS almost got him in the backfield, but didn't and Lateef had a lot of open room.

With the PAT, it's 30-10, PSU, with 0:55 left in the 3rd qtr.

Did not know Gus Felder was with Nebraska. Just saw him as they scanned the sideline.

Radio PBP is incensed at the penalty against PSU on interfering with the punt receiver. Per them, PSU's Collins was blocked in the back on the play, and it was kNU's own player that hit the punt receiver. smh
They are right. That was a BS call also. I ran it back and watched. The Nebraska player hit his own guy. PSU player ran by the play without contact.

It could put the program in a hole we don’t dig out of for years. I’m not saying it would, but there is definitely a downside as other programs have found out.

Wrong, you could replace him next year for nothing if it becomes clear the position is above hos head. There is zero downside with Smith and pure upside including letting the tea-leaves settle as to which up-&-coming and established coaches are realistic candidates. How precisely would Terry Smith set you back years??? You aren't paying him anything and guarantees are a non-factor. LMAO at the know-it-alls, who are actually know-nothings.

How? They all bring different things that could go wrong--with very different downsides
You never hire a coach to appease the current players/recruits
The downside is that PSU doesn't make the playoffs in the next 4 years and becomes a perennial mid-B1G team.

interesting. I think Grunk was out as a WR, and Liam Clifford was the QB. He handed off to Kaytron, who picked up 9 1/2 yards.

PSU looked less aggressive in that last series against Nebby and they scored the TD.

Damn, Kaytron picks up the 1st down, and also sets the PSU career rushing record, but a flag on the play and it's a facemask penalty against PSU. And Kaytron came up gimpy after the tackle, and appeared to go into the medical tent.

It usually evens out but we’re getting absolutely screwed on the calls today. Hopefully Kaytron is ok.

Ask Miami and WVU, two programs that listened to their players and hired the “popular” coach.

Oh, so UNL's RBs don't get called for Facemasking, but apparently PSU's do.... this bush conference is such an f'ing joke with complete joker hacks - ridiculous.
