Could be. He looks tired to me though and they've only played 5 cupcakes. He was really waving his hands wildly tonight on sideline to best Central Connecticut State. A sad spectacle.I’ll give you 20,000,000 reasons why he aint walking away

Bingo! He's getting tired. I think he will leave on his own like Maryland coach a few years ago.The guy is a disgrace, the hope is he does the honorable thing and resigns. Last year was a joke, the fact that he came back is just absurd
Nah, that's just the irrational side talking. A few years ago you were saying the opposite about Pike.I guess Pike will hold us hostage even though he’s an absolute disgrace to the athletic department. The fact that he came back for this year shows he has no interest in being successful and is just collecting a pay check.
Do you mean the Virginia coach? Willard only left MD because he had better offers, which I don’t think will happen for Pikiell. I agree that he looks tired, and has since Cam and Paul left. Maybe he and Zinn can negotiate a buyout that lets him leave gracefully and lets Rutgers save some money.Bingo! He's getting tired. I think he will leave on his own like Maryland coach a few years ago.
Knight as an interim coach would be worse than him.I think he’s gone at the end of the season if not beforehand. Theshow is just starting and will be full blown dysentery as the calendar turns to a new year.

To keep claiming he is a developmental coach is laughable. This is how it started with Jordan too. Many didn’t believe what a horrible coach he was and then the momentum became too much and he was gone. If the new AD isn’t the same old bs, they will figure out a way if the season goes as many expect (including myself). Every year of this nonsense cause exponential damage.
This roster has arguably one B1G rotational player in Grant. Almost all of the rest of the roster is mid-major, and no way even Grant sticks around next year if the team has 10 wins. Pike is a developmental coach in a NIL world (i.e., a dinosaur). Loading up on marginal B1G freshmen instead of transfers makes zero sense. The offense is remedial. One top of that, we have a NIL issue he and has already proven he can’t get real transfers, and can’t even win with 2 lottery picks.
I remember when half this board was afraid UCONN would steal him away - LOL.You can thank pat hobbs. Pikes here for another few years due to hobbs drunken contract extension. This was an extension when there was ZERO threat of another school hiring him.
Nah. Go back to Willard predecessor at MD, Mark TurgeonDo you mean the Virginia coach? Willard only left MD because he had better offers, which I don’t think will happen for Pikiell. I agree that he looks tired, and has since Cam and Paul left. Maybe he and Zinn can negotiate a buyout that lets him leave gracefully and lets Rutgers save some money.
Her Job! Find the money and make tough decisions . If she is Big Time neither Pike or Greg finish their contracts and are gone.Keli is big time but we don’t have the money.
Basketball vs football is not apples to apples. Greggy is a clown who can’t be gone fast enoughSay what you want about our football team. At least they lose to good teams and beat the bad ones. GS 2.0 does not have a loss even remotely close to tonight or any of the other low-mid major embarrassments SP has.
You mean Schiano, not Pike. Pike’s body of work outshines Schiano’s by far.You can thank pat hobbs. Pikes here for another few years due to hobbs drunken contract extension. This was an extension when there was ZERO threat of another school hiring him.
or just gotten that reboundPike' Era has passed. If only Myles Johnson could have scored against Houston.
I think Pike is the worst coach in the league. He must go!Basketball vs football is not apples to apples. Greggy is a clown who can’t be gone fast enough
which COULD happen. not saying a sure thing but within the realm of possibility. What coach walks away from guaranteed money?? None
He is a lame duck though considering the outside view he couldn't win with two NBA Top 5 talents last year and than losing to a non-P4 program the way they did tonight. What top players would even want to come here? I know $$ talks but we have short arms and deep pockets and a coach who hasn't changed a thing over the years to evolve.
I just dont see a change unless big donors step up
I at least give him credit for developing under the radar players like Myles Johnson, Geo Baker, Caleb McConnel and Eugene Omoruyi. To keep claiming he is a developmental coach is laughable.
Right after that stupid game at MSGYou can thank pat hobbs. Pikes here for another few years due to hobbs drunken contract extension. This was an extension when there was ZERO threat of another school hiring him.
Correct, much easier to fix things in basketball with smaller rosters which Pike could have done if he took Greg's lead in finding the money on his own.Basketball vs football is not apples to apples. Greggy is a clown who can’t be gone fast enough
Nope. Only thing I could see is him agreeing to resign if they pay him $10mm rather than $20mm.Bingo! He's getting tired. I think he will leave on his own like Maryland coach a few years ago.
I remember thinking if he got us to the tournament, he would be beloved forever here; a figurtive statue built for him. And I'm grateful for the good years and even the early ones where the team was scrappy and worked their butts off, even if they weren't winning a ton of games.I love pike and will always be grateful for what he did for the program, but I don’t think his style works in the NIL era of college sports. I HATE what NIL has done to college sports. It’s going to end pike’s career
I would jump across the table right now to accept that dealNope. Only thing I could see is him agreeing to resign if they pay him $10mm rather than $20mm.
I think it’s more the transfer portal than NIL that has really doomed PikeI love pike and will always be grateful for what he did for the program, but I don’t think his style works in the NIL era of college sports. I HATE what NIL has done to college sports. It’s going to end pike’s career
I agree. Much more difficult to resurrect a football program than a basketball program. Especially in this conference. GS has his faults and has not done a great job this season. That said, he at least recruits, while being forced to attack the NIL element himself, with embarrassingly little support from the school (until now, hopefully.) Basketball has not adapted one bit. Recruiting has fallen off the table and we’re left scrounging for low major projects that we hope are somehow developed by this flailing coaching staff. Nearly every summer, SP volunteers his team as his “favorite” or “best ever” and every year for the last 4, the results are worse. I think SP is a good man and was a good face for the program in helping pull us out of being a laughingstock. But 2023-24 was bad. 2024-25 was a national embarrassment. And this year will just be long and sad. The program is cratering.Basketball vs football is not apples to apples. Greggy is a clown who can’t be gone fast enough
I believe the buyout would drop to $9M after this season. Either way, suggesting he’s going to walk is crazy.I’ll give you 20,000,000 reasons why he aint walking away
And he’s supposed to be a good defensive coach and we can’t guard the pick ad rol nor the 3 point line where does one see the good defensive coachHe’s not going to be fired yet somehow has to get a young upstart on the staff (who else would come?) and hand the offense to him. I am sick of 10 years of point guard ISO ball and nothing else.
Drops to $20mm after this seasonI believe the buyout would drop to $9M after this season. Either way, suggesting he’s going to walk is crazy.

They are synonymous now. No NIL, no good portal transfers.I think it’s more the transfer portal than NIL that has really doomed Pike
The buyout is if Pike were to leave for another team not what RU owes him on the contract.I believe the buyout would drop to $9M after this season. Either way, suggesting he’s going to walk is crazy.
Ahh I see. Makes sense. The buyout is if Pike were to leave for another team not what RU owes him on the contract.
Not sure why so many are suddenly getting this mixed up.
Assuming a buyout is on the table (which I’d have to imagine it’s not), wouldn’t it be money better spent to pour even half that amount into NIL and have a roster that can legitimately compete in conference and tourney? Then winning programs solve fundraising/money problems themselves.Drops to $20mm after this season
If Myles Johnson scored vs. Houston, we’d be having this same discussion next year instead of this year.Pike' Era has passed. If only Myles Johnson could have scored against Houston.
You also see a lot of the smart coaches clamoring it’s a waste to recruit freshmen who won’t play or contribute in a meaningful way just get them later when they are readythe balancing act for Kelli is whether to bite the bullet and find $20 million or waste another year potentially putting RU in an even worse abyss going forward. Its almost guaranteed next year will suck to. Sure RU will have more money for the portal but so does every other school. Plus Pike recruited way too many freshmen who will have to be run off the team. There is no such thing as building. Every year is its own...thats why some of the fans here posting about developing and retaining have been so far off the mark..you cant do that off a 12-19 season
If Im Keli I woud put Chris Caputo 4th year head coach at GW and former assistant under Laranagua at Miami on speed dialYou also see a lot of the smart coaches clamoring it’s a waste to recruit freshmen who won’t play or contribute in a meaningful way just get them later when they are ready
you could truly argue we’re going to end the pike era in a worse place than the Jordan era because of all the off the court reasons we aren’t a winning program
