How do we feel about Jason Beck as OC?

I have heard some inside info listening to Gamecock Central that he is a serious candidate. I personally think this would be a HUGE get. Especially if Sellers would return. He has turned Utah into a powerhouse offense in one season. He also has a great relationship with Sellers since he was also at Syracuse when he initially committed there. I believe he can develop Sellers into the QB we all know he can be.

My initial reservation(s) would be that (skimming Wiki) he has a relatively small sample-size of OC work, and he seems to move around a LOT. Maybe neither of those are factors if he can come in here and light it up.

Sammis has a stellar track record as both OL and OC coaches (both major weaknesses) and he's the UConn recruiter for VA/MD, which is an area Beamer LOVES to recruit.

Drew Cronic at Navy has a reputation and track record of COY awards and program turnarounds and also has a background similar to Connor Shaw's.

I played high school football twenty miles from Columbia in the late 60s but I don't even pretend to know jack about college football today. Your post is valuable information for me. I know more about Jeff Beck than I do Jason Beck. When I log on here I have to wade through so much garbage to get info like this. I get that this is a free site and many on here ant to vent their frustration. I'm frustrated too. It just seems like no one wants to offer reasonable solutions to our problem.

I don’t know anything about Jason Beck other than what is on here. I would have to know more about what is meant by turning Utah into a powerhouse too before having an opinion. Utah is typically a better team than SC so seems like a case where the only way to get him, if he is indeed worth getting, is to throw money at him.

Unfortunately, the Fleet is really struggling at football. I've lost touch but I think they only have a couple of wins in four seasons. Maybe they will get respectable before I'm on the other side of the grass.

Yep, they only had club football for decades. Decent baseball, men's BB and soccer teams (both men and women) when I was there. Had a few Trinidadian recruits on the soccer team. Basketball made it to the D-II tourney my senior year.

You guys are probably more into blues than I am but I loved those two albums in the '70's with Jan Hammer.
