What coaches leave PSU for VT?

Terry Smith played at Gateway (Monroeville) High School and coached at Gateway for a good number of years before moving into the college ranks at Temple.

I do not want him to be HC of PSU in 2026. That does not mean I am criticizing his handling of the finish of this season.

You post that you don’t want him to be the Coach, yet post no reason why? It’s a personal problem you have with him? Or you just prefer a guy that Coached at a rival school and likes to rub up against young Chicks in bars when he isn’t kicking kickers? Or Terry Smith just cares too much so we shouldn’t hire him.

I would like Smith to get hired for the simple fact that he cares more about PSU more than any other Slick Willie they are going to bring in wearing a visor.

I’ll just say I believe there are better options available.

I don’t question his care for PSU and I believe he was the best choice to finish this year as HC. I wish him good luck to lead the team to victory this weekend.

Generally speaking, I would agree. Interim HC back to staff coach. Terry Smith is no ordinary person. He is known publicly and privately to say this is his home. If PSU needs him to be something other than HC, he will be grateful to do it. PSU is the bedrock that pulled him out of Aliquippa and transformed his family’s life. He will choose to stay if given any option. And he will excel in whatever capacity is asked.

This one, this guy, Lando…it works.

I guess I feel strongly both ways. IF the new head coach wants him (or any current staff member), I'm good with it. IF the new coach wants to bring in all new people, I'm good with it. I do think back to Bill O'Brien's introductory PC when he announced that he asked Larry Johnson to stay on. Just my opinion. bought I think that brought some stability and good will to the fresh start.

I'll sit back and listen while I try to get the fence wedgie out of my hind end.

Franklin has a pretty good coaching tree. At least 5 of his coaches were head coaches at the D1 level in 2025. (Pry, Moorhead, Ronnie, Diaz and Huff). That’s really good.

RR is proving himself to be very competent. Not PSU HC competent, but I root for ODU and RR to succeed.
