CLASS A
Millard South (11-1) vs. Papillion-LaVista South (11-1)
- Obviously, Millard South is going to win. But good on Papillion-LaVista South for making it to Lincoln (1st time, maybe?).. Really unfortunate that it has worked out this way opponent wise.
Millard South: 62 - Papillion-LaVista South 3
CLASS B
Waverly (12-0) vs. Gretna East (11-1)
- Well, Waverly, you looked great Friday night. I was off, way off, with the Bennington prediction.. That's no knock on them.. Waverly went out and dominated. On the flip side, Gretna East, the new kid on the block steps into the ring for its first ever state title berth (year 4). I think this could be a really, really, good game. Maybe one of the better match ups across all classes. Not entirely sure which way it will swing, but I will say this, Coach Manstedt has his boys locked in. 12-0.. Could it be 13?
Waverly: 30 - Gretna East 21
CLASS C1
Wahoo (12-0) vs. Sidney (12-0)
- Two unbeatens. Wahoo a mainstay, Sidney brand new to the scene (congrats to them). Wahoo is going to win this football game, for sure, but I think Sidney will at least make it close-ish. Competitive early, with Wahoo scoring a couple late 2nd half touchdowns to put a nail in the coffin on an undefeated season.
Wahoo: 42 - Sidney 18
CLASS C2
Grand Island Central Catholic (11-1) vs. Wahoo Neumann (11-1)
- Oops, I had the wrong parochial school picked all year. I was on the right path, though! These two teams are good. I've picked against GICC the last 2 or 3 weeks and have obviously been wrong every time. Good for them and Coach Ashby on their historical run for GICC. Wahoo Neumann is the "team that beat the team who beat the team" (Yutan - Norfolk Catholic). I think that has to count for something... I'm not sure if "JOHNNY OLAF" (name change), who was upset at my 1st round upset pick of GICC, is reading - but if so.. This one is for you, buddy!
GICC: 35 - Wahoo Neumann: 28
CLASS D1
Crofton (10-2) vs. Sandy Creek (11-1)
- Sandy Creek looks to defend the title.. Crofton finally enters the arena after knocking on the door for several years. Crofton just beat Shelby by 20 in the Semis.. Shelby beat Sandy about 2 months ago. Sandy won't play like that again though. Crofton will have to have a monumental effort/gameplan to get it done. Looks like back-to-back in D1..
Sandy Creek: 40 - Crofton 22
CLASS D2
O'Neill St. Mary's (12-0) vs. Wynot (11-1)
- What an absolutely insane run Wynot has been on the last couple of weeks and I don't just mean winning the games (Reading Huskerland Bob's "From a Scrubs Standpoint"). The Blue Devils have touched every corner of the state in the last 14 or so days it seems. Their win over Central Valley was... Impressive to say the least. St Mary's? Not shocked. Howells Dodge is real, real, real good. St. Mary's and Hedstrom are just THAT good. You can't defend them.. I don't think. Perhaps Wynot has other plans, though.
O'Neill St. Mary's: 50 - Wynot: 38
