PSU is still due a BTN game and that Matt Sarz guy wrote that 3:30 is the only slot on that day. Haven’t bothered to look into that.
Matt Sarz predicts 3:30 BTN window since PSU has yet to fulfill the mandated BTN conference game requirement.
Has to be on BTN, would suspect it to be a 3:30 timeslot since they generally don't like to put anything at noon opposite tOSU/UM
Is the game going to actually kickoff at 7 or are they going to parse every quote from Rhule & Kraft for two hours and kickoff at 9?

Right. If past history is an indication, we get 3:30 every "last Saturday" b/c of Ohio State-Weaselrines always at noon now, thanks to Fox and the contract. I'm sure exceptions can be found, but my memory (fwiw) is that 3:30 is our time that day.
My memory could certainly be off (in fact, it is often off anymore) but it seems to me that game has always been at noon. Am I wrong in that?
I remember one year that it was a 1 v 2 matchup, and I listened to it on the way home from the PSU game. Maybe 10-15 years ago. But it's mostly been at noon.
A thorough explanation. Although, if I were an unattached cfb fan, I’d have more interest in watching Michigan (at Maryland) play. Just as I would be more inclined to watch one of the 2-loss SEC teams play as opposed to Tennessee.
Having NBC showing the game isn’t as crazy as this past MSU game being on CBS though.
Biggest surprise is seeing PSU listed as 9.5 point favorite on ESPN’s site.
Do you mean the Ohio State-Mich game, even pre-Fox contract? You might be right.
I'm just remembering that we are seldom up against that game, regardless of who and where we play. But, that's a "feel", not necessarily a fact.
Correct. Is typically a noon game but in 2006 it was moved to a 3:30 kick off due to it being 1 vs 2

this is exactly what I thought, just wanted to make sure PSU wasn't stuck getting a specific time slot due to big ten rules
I think it's more a product of the "Draft" the networks go through for picking games to air each week, and then the others sorting through the leftovers.
Like others said, PSU needs another BTN game, and Rutgres is the lone remaining suspect.

Agreed on all counts. USC-Oregon is a very good matchup, and I might watch a fair amount of that one. ABC/ESPN does some weird things anymore. Used to be they picked the highest-ranked teams for ABC, but now it appears to be "SEC at Nite." I notice that ESPN has Pitt at Georgia Tech, which is actually a very good matchup between the #22 and #16 ranked teams. I think Disney has been pushing big games to the ESPN (pay) channel.
I'm guessing CBS chose PSU-MSU because eyeballs. It's two big fanbases and populous states. I admit, I was a bit floored when I saw that game would be on national TV.
Would love to see PSU beat Nebraska, but that'll be a tough task. I think Penn State brought their stock up quite a bit by handily beating MSU at their place. And Raiola is still out, I believe.
PSU should beat Nebraska at home. Just a few weeks ago, a pretty medoocre to below average Miinesota team beat Nebraska at home. PSU still is a talented football team, and if they play like they have for the most part since the Iowa game, they should beat Nebraska.
I agree with everything up to "that'll be a tough task". It's a game we should win.
I don't like the late start either but if the students or fans in general want to make it a White Out more power to them.

Yes and the B10 schedule is not that compelling this week. I thought maybe they would put Michigan and Maryland on CBS then USC and Oregon on NBC but Maryland is terrible riding a 6 game losing streak so that is not a viable option. Then you have horrible MSU vs Iowa and Wisky vs Illinois. Not good options. Throw in that PSU was just on CBS and there you have it we are in prime time.
I too remember that. The "promise" was made when they first put the temporary lights in. I guess they figure nobody remembers and PSU simply doesn't care.
The "no night games in November" rule - which was real and enforced* went away with the current round of TV deals, which started with the 2023 football season.
*as an aside, it was officially no night games after the Daylight Savings change in the fall so technically the first Saturday in November could still have a night games under the old contract.
PSUIgnore really needs to get a clue - students have been slogging through classes since August and this is the first break and they schedule this as a 7:00 game so if they go they have to stay until Sunday when they could have been home Friday or even Thursday for some. And good point a very healthy dose of Alumni will be no shows - I have seen tickets going for $11 already.
Oregon, UCLA, Northwestern and Iowa all say Hi. Even Indiana when looking at the last two minutes.
This team has found ways to lose whether with Franklin or not so who knows. Not sure you can say a 4-6 team "should win" any game.
Right--we haven't been winning games we "should"--doesn't alter the expectations IMO
