I called this crap when he went to halftime saying hopefully we can keep long possessions. He fricken chickened out yet again instead of taking it to the other team. This one’s on Kirk. Pathetic effort from him today.
He was crying after we scored a TD in the 1st half, good riddance... retire or go coach HS.
It’s frustrating.
Iowa played well given how much more talent and speed USC has than them.
If you believe in moral victories, it’s nice to see Iowa rebounding from the Brian Ferentz disaster and actually playing like they belong on the same field with top 25 teams.
The problem is Kirk Ferentz is still way too conservative for this era of football. That first Iowa drive was a thing of beauty. WRs were involved, throws were being made downfield, and the USC defense was completely off balance.
Iowa went into half up 21-10 and came out with the mindset of BAU on offense. They lost the lead as a result. When the offense started clicking on that final drive, they ran three straight running plays with backup running backs that gained 4 yards total then threw a low percentage long pass along the sidelines on 4th Down.
That final series of downs is the perfect encapsulation of why Iowa is currently on a 13-game losing streak against top 25 teams.
It’s time for new blood.
To be perfectly honest, this is Kirk every game. When is the last time you thought Kirk coached to take it to any opponent for four quarters?
It was clear that USC had better talent at QB and WR. Still KW was an inch from getting the ball inside the 10.

Since 2004 Iowa is 61-60 in one score games yet KF tries to keep the game as close as possible and win it with his defense. His strategy is not successful.
He feasts on tomato cans, and his tenure is essentially prolonged mediocrity
Life will never be better than it is under Kirk Ferentz. We need to stay the course and extend his contract. The future is now. To infinity and beyond.
Kirk is going to praise post-MSU next week as a “Really good, well-prepared team” as if he’s just beaten a quality opponent.

I agreed with 8-4 but that now depends on the health of the three linemen that went out today. Without them I see 7-5
