Franklin At Hickory: I'm guessing that all this week, Franklin, will hear about how their underdogs and have little chance of winning, just to get them ready to give their best effort, but that will not be enough for title contender Hickory... Red Tornadoes by 16.
Maiden At Newton-Conover: The Blue Devils go in fired-up. Pretty sure this will be seasons end for the Red Devils... Maiden by 14.
East Lincoln At Crest: Flyrod's Game Of The Week, and so it should be. A couple of heavy hitters, here. The Big South and the Western Foothills must be two of the toughest conferences in the state... A certain poster, who I listen to, very closely, told me that the Chargers may have the best chance of winning the title in 5A...Nevertheless, I'm thinking East Lincoln will be a competitive match for them, and too, the Coach comes on every once in awhile and chews-the-fat with us, so I'm picking the Mustangs, by 7.
Lincolnton At Mountain Heritage: Oh, yeah, that one. Frankly, it makes me tired to think about it. I truly believe MH is an authentic number 1 seed, meaning they would beat, likely to beat and at the very least could compete with anyone in 3A, that I do believe (Saying all that makes me feel like Henry Fleming)... However, If the Wolves play their best, we can beat them. I believe that, too. Wolves by 10.
Postscript: The last time Lincolnton played at Mountain Heritage was 2009, and we lost 27-21.
I'd bought a ticket for a chartered bus, which worked out fine. there were incredibly sharp curves going up the mountain, I'm talking what seemed like 180ยบ, and what in GrizzlyDevil's field of work might be called "Hairpin or Switchback turns, if they were plotting a roadway.
I sat near the back and didn't have a window seat so I couldn't see the road signs... Phoned a friend this morning, to ask what the road number is from Marion to Burnsville, him being from that area, originally, I wanted to see if there was a more straight, alternate route. He said it's Highway 61. Didn't tell him, but that's not it. Highway 61 is a darn song, and a road, NOT here, though... My friend has an occasional glitch, still, I'll find it.
This is an exciting time of year, the football playoffs (especially if your team is still in it), chilly weather, the sights, the sounds, the smells, the pageantry, with Thanksgiving and Christmas not far down the road. I've seen a bunch of them, and for me, it doesn't get any better...Good luck to all the teams still out there.
