I'll be the boomer. What is the infatuation with 6 and 7. Why those two numbers specifically? I get that it's zoomer nonsense. But 69 and 420 have at least some underlying meaning. Far as I can tell this has zero.

I'm surprised and disappointed that you didn't have a page commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking.

The best I can understand, is somehow this thing got popular on tiktok and has no meaning whatsoever, but kids laugh if you get somebody to say it and then they repeat it. I only know this because I have teenagers - and of course watch South Park which made fun of this 2 weeks ago and spoofed it into to a scene from the exorcist.

I think it was in a rap song or something, then somebody put it on TikTok with the juggling motion and it went viral. Now it's a thing. But the numbers have absolutely no meaning. It's just something stupid that kids do.

Those of us who are SixPack Heismans know the true meaning. We also know who killed JFK and who Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" is about. Membership has its privileges.

Have no idea if true, but was told the 6, 7 comes from a reference from Steph Curry. In an interview someone asked how tall he was and he responded with 6 foot 6, 7 and did the hand motion.

I’m trying to decide on the 6/7 thing. It’s kinda 6 of one half dozen of the other for me

Steph Curry is only 6'2" so that doesn't make any sense.

This is what Google AI told me about 6,7. Sorry, it's kind of long.

The phrase "6-7" has no inherent meaning and originated as a nonsensical expression from the viral song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by Philadelphia rapper Skrilla.

Origin and Popularization
The phrase gained popularity on social media, especially TikTok, through a series of events:
  • The Song: The recurring lyric "6-7" in Skrilla's song "Doot Doot" was clipped and used as a soundbite in videos. The rapper never explicitly defined the meaning, though some speculate it could refer to 67th Street in Philadelphia or the police code 10-67 (signifying a death).
  • Basketball Association: The sound was frequently used in highlight videos of the professional basketball player LaMelo Ball, who coincidentally is 6 feet 7 inches tall.
  • Viral Videos: The trend was further propelled by a high school basketball player, Taylen Kinney, who used an indecisive hand gesture while saying "like a 6... 6... 6-7" when rating a Starbucks drink. The most notable moment was a video of a young boy (now known as the "67 Kid" or "Mason 67") excitedly yelling the phrase and performing the gesture at a basketball game, which made the meme explode in popularity.

Meaning
The central point of the "6-7" phenomenon is that it is intentionally meaningless and absurd. It serves as an inside joke for Gen Alpha and younger Gen Z, acting as a way to signal group membership and exclude those who don't understand the obscure origin. The lack of meaning is part of its appeal, often being used in random contexts to create a sense of shared confusion or "brain rot" humor.
The phrase has become so widespread that it has reportedly caused disruptions in classrooms and was even spoofed on South Park.

6,7 = Harry Balls

hand gesture is wanna feel?

My 12 yet ear old has been saying it since August. Trying to figure out the meaning and he showed me that video.
Couple days later, my wife saw the explanation somewhere.

I said something to him about it and now he doesn’t say it anymore.
