OT: NJ Devils 2025-2026 Thread

Love the OT Win this afternoon. Especially given the fact that the Avs took 2 from the Devils last season by a combined score of 9-1. Remember watching the February 2025 game in Colorado. It seemed the Devs were not ready to play that game and the Avs skated circles around the Devs. We'll see how the Devs come out and play in Colorado on Tuesday to start their west coast swing.
I love Jack...I'm not at all a jack detractor. But in the interested of having an honest discussion, I think the beef on Jack is that he is 'too soft'. And these kinds of goals are wonderful, but don't do much to change that narrative since there obviously is no such thing as 3x3 OT in the playoffs.
The sequence that pissed me off was a continuation from his play from last year
Skate down the wing wide open and he passed up a shot , fumbled the puck , skated towards blue line , was out muscled for the puck , cane player stole puck which led to a short handed break away goal .
He has been great this year , I’ll wait for game 2 of playoff series when opposing team starts to hammer him every second he’s on the ice

Not sure that is how the team see's it.
But Markstrom needs to play a lot better then he did last night.
I'm sure they don't at the moment. But he's 35 and looks slow, and too often out of position. Not sure he is going to improve enough over the season. Don't wait too long to trade him and get Nico Daws up to speed. Jake Allen is more than a serviceable goalie who can play starter or backup minutes. And he's signed for a very reasonable number.
Highly doubt they look to trade him. Unless somehow they get a solid goalie back.
Also doubt the team is willing to go into the playoffs with an Allen Daws tandem. Allen has not been asked to be a true #1 since the 17-18 season. While Daws is still unproven at the NHL level.
Even if Markstrom falls out of favor this season I think he stays around for depth/insurance.
I posted about Markstrom yesterday. Said Daws was better. They need to get Daws up & in NOW.
It's not happening. Not in the short term at least. They are going to give Markstrom some runway to find his groove.
Plus he's supposed to be the No1 & has a long term contract. Afraid his groove has passed him by.
