We weren’t born in comfort, we were born in a bar.
And ever since that first round hit the table, we’ve been raising hell and defending this country better than anyone before or after.
Every fight, every war, every miserable stretch of dirt this world has seen, Marines were there, standing taller, fighting harder, and laughing louder in the face of chaos.
So here’s to the ones still in the mud.
To the ones who made it home.
And to the ones guarding the gates, waiting for the rest of us to check in.

Happy Veterans Days to all who have answered the call.
They don’t have Space Marines because they know we’d stick our peckers in those aliens and create a new breed of humans.
Couple of decades ago there was a Marine LTC who had come to STRAT from Marine Recon to check a career box. He lived in the hills just west and north of Tekemah, and I was talking to a farmer neighbor of his; the neighbor had been in the Army just post Vietnam. This farmer pointed across the county road that separated their properties and showed me a bunch of trees that all had been lowered to the same level below the level of the LTC's house. This farmer said, "That crazy-assed Marine just wanted clear fields of fire around his house." Laughed my *** off. I've worked with all the branches of the military (except the Space Guardians) and Marines were my favorite. They routinely got their asses into wringers the other branches never thought of.
