Honestly this team has exceeded my expectations. Three losses by a total of 10 points. Two losses to playoff teams by 7. Gave #9 Oregon 2 pts early and lose by 2. Oregon score almost 39 points/game and gives up 14. Hawks beat those numbers.

I'm not talking about moral victories. I just think this team is very good - better than 80% of FBS.

They can win out! Go Hawks!

Iowa > Oregon would have been an obvious upset. Iowa @ USC would be another one. Iowa should beat MSU. Nebraska maybe a slight favorite at home.
There is a lot to play for this season. CFB is not life or death but entertainment for normal fans.

You are talking moral victories i.e. We're "very good" because we almost won those games.

We've beaten ONE team that has a winning record. One. On top of that, our non-con opponents have a combined 7-23 record.

Next week, at USC. Hawks already with 2 strikes against them:
1. Ranked team.
2. On West Coast.
Plus….coming off an emotionally gut wrenching loss. Likely lose this game.

Then, Michigan State. Iowa SHOULD win.

Finally, Nebraska. I know Hawk fans like to dismiss them and many think this will be a win….don’t look now but they are 7-3. Likely 8-3 after playing Penn State. Yes, they are on their backup QB but he may be better than (or at least as good as) Raiola. He had a darn good game last nigh and should only get better with more experience. I felt before the season this would be a loss and I have seen nothing to change that.

But….you never know. Maybe next week the Hawks finally get the monkey off their back. I hope so.
USC is soft. The Illini and ND ran over them. Hawks struggle vs the run, USC cannot run and apparently are playing 4th team rbs.
Easy win. Just run over them.

Agree! 4-8 was in play with this roster. But Gronk made a big difference. Can't believe he is still standing and may have CTE in a few years but he saved the season. Granted, Whiskey, PennSt, and Rutgers turned out to be garbage, so that helped a lot. That was two wins were not expecting. Nebraska might be a tough one on the road, but should handle soft USC and hapless Sparty rather easily.

We are all frustrated by these close losses.
Reality check: Oregon payroll is at least 3 times higher than I was.
Dodgers vs Pirates...who wins?
Texas tech brought in 5 d-line men for 7 million.
Probably more than Iowas entire nil payroll.

Since we're apt to blaming everything on "We lack the NIL" dollars (I DO understand the importance of having money for better players because the better players want more money), what can you tell me about Iowa State's NIL? Are they throwing [significantly] more money around to beat us on the football field?

I'm no NIL expert, which is why I'm asking you.. Thanks.

*We've lost 12 straight to ranked teams. We have a problem and it's not necessarily NIL all the time*

Unbelievable.

How many Seniors and Graduated players do we field? Answer: A lot.

Could this be the most-experienced group of starters we've ever had? Potentially.

We can stop pretending we had a playoff chance. Cheers to another worthless bowl game!!
You give me the impression of someone that if it isn't quite right, you throw up your hands and walk away...not just football games but life in general.

You guys should start a support group, you can cry on each others shoulders.

Last time I checked we still play USC, MSU, and Nebraska. Season is hardly over.
Good point. But you are talking to a bunch of idiots from the off topic board taking a breather from their asinine political views with equally asinine football comments.
