Probably, unfortunately. Whatever aspect of the program he’s been associated with, seems to be a glaring weakness. In his defense, we’ve typically been talent starved in those areas.
I’d be happy to see him move on at this point.
Seems he has a free pass forever. Just keep bringing up baby Brian. Our receiving group is not only not improving they are getting worse.
Worse? They definitely aren’t worse than they were the first 2-3 games of the season when they had more drops than catches.
I’m not a Bud fan but the biggest issue with Iowa’s WR room right now is recruiting and overall talent, which ultimately falls on the coaching staff. Iowa has to attract a couple Big Ten level WRs this off season or it will be the same issue next year.

Nope, that's only been a thing the last 5 or so years. Most of which now have Budmayr's fingerprints on the offense.
Copeland was okay but Budmayr makes him look like a genius.
I actually think Iowa has looked improved with WR play this year. (Yeah I know they dropped 700 balls the first few weeks) maybe that WR room can keep finding pieces and start to actually be productive again. Hopefully with the offense showing signs of improvement they can start landing some nice recruits and portal guys.

Our leading receiver has 216 yards. You can’t make this stuff up. I’m not smart enough to say whether it’s a talent issue, scheme issue, QB issue, whatever. But at some point it’s got to be fixed if we’re taking the next step. I mean look at the end of the IU game yesterday. 2 incredible catches from 2 different players.
Yeah. It’s still obviously not good. We are actually seeing guys with some separation and getting open for the first time in idk how long though. Hopefully Lester can keep finding pieces on the recruiting trail and they can land some transfer options to help keep building that room.
Lester had commented that Budmayr has given him some good ideas and insights regarding QBs, and Kirk has complimented him too, so that tells me that he has some value to the program.
He might actually be a better QB coach than WR coach.

If Chryst gets the HC job at Oregon State, maybe he calls on Budmayr to join him there (and bring Lester's playbook).

Based on what? Copeland’s WR room was awful his last two years. It’s still not great, but this is the best it’s been since 2021 when we had Keegan Johnson. He’s honestly the last true Big Ten–caliber receiver we’ve had, and even he’s at New Mexico now lol.
I’m no Bud fan and I do think Iowa can do better, but it’s pretty clear he’s still dealing with the fallout from BF and those 2022 and 2023 seasons.
And one was by Charlie Becker who Iowa was thought to be a leader in his recruitment for awhile.
He’s got the 4th most receiving yards with 275. It’s that simple why WRs aren’t going to look at Iowa. I was amazed that they got they got Terrence Smith last year. He at least is an athlete.
His body of work. How quickly people seem to have forgotten about ISM and Brandon Smith. He certainly did himself no favors speaking candidly about how hard it was to recruit WRs to a KF/BF offense, but he wasn't wrong.
You're right, the guys I just mentioned were garbage for Iowa
Bud has fallen up after being crap or just average during his time at Iowa, and people think he's fine now? I don't get it.
