Well, considering Iowa hasn't won a road game against any team with a winning record, the Hawks are probably 7-4 heading to Nebby.
Iowa is likely a 2-4 point underdog in Lincoln.
I'd say 7-5 is pretty likely.
The season is not "literally" over. Thrre are "literally" more games to play. Learn the use of the word literally. Maybe starting with 6th grade.

Not quitters, just mentally exhausted realists, I think. Being an Iowa football fan is like being trapped in Dante's Inferno. For real for real.
I, for one, am sick of emotionally investing in the status quo. I'm an aim high, think big, forward-thinking type of guy. A small-time, mid, "we can't do any better" attitude doesn't work for me.
I'm also an alum and have been a fan since I was nine, but my nerves are shot. I need an extended break from Iowa football until KF leaves. Seriously. What's that phrase, "...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?" Yeah, that.

I’m not upset about the possibility of 10-3. I think Iowa does it. This team is as good as the 2019-2021 versions, which I loved the trajectory of those teams too. Covid really messed up that 2020 year.

I was at the game, ready to rush the field. Heartbreaking, but a good effort. Unfortunately no ranked wins for 4 years. We are at the top end of mediocre though!

And if you’re an alum and have been watching football for 50-60 years like some on here how many schools like Iowa are breaking into the cool kids club? In case you haven’t noticed it’s the same teams year after year for 100 years. Now congrats to IU for breaking the barrier. I’m honestly jealous of them. But it’s ridiculous to think Iowa isn’t trying to win.
Next week, at USC. Hawks already with 2 strikes against them:
1. Ranked team.
2. On West Coast.
Plus….coming off an emotionally gut wrenching loss. Likely lose this game.
Then, Michigan State. Iowa SHOULD win.
Finally, Nebraska. I know Hawk fans like to dismiss them and many think this will be a win….don’t look now but they are 7-3. Likely 8-3 after playing Penn State. Yes, they are on their backup QB but he may be better than (or at least as good as) Raiola. He had a darn good game last nigh and should only get better with more experience. I felt before the season this would be a loss and I have seen nothing to change that.
But….you never know. Maybe next week the Hawks finally get the monkey off their back. I hope so.

Honestly, no I don't. I think he's a "just enough to get by" type of guy, which stems from being obscenely conservative and chronically resistant to change. He plays and operates not to lose instead of playing to win, literally and figuratively.
And I never said anything about Iowa not "trying to win".
Swap KF for Cignetti or Lanning and we're undefeated. There's no doubt in my mind.

There’s no pressure for him to change. He’s nearing the end regardless, and even prior to this he knows the fan base is scared to death of the 1970s….fans are content with 8 wins and the occasional chance at playoff in early November

If Cignetti or Lanning was coaching the current Iowa roster with Iowa's coordinators, they're undefeated right now.
To your point though, more often than not, the Jimmy's and Joe's gravitate toward a culture and leadership that's attuned to today's game. Cignetti brought in his players from James Madison and made it to the playoffs in year 1. James Madison! His culture translates. His approach appeals to today's top talent. Same with Lanning.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, KF is out here still running things like it's 1985 (with an 80's anecdote at the ready). That approach may attract cornfed lineman but that's never going to consistently appeal to quality skill players.
