And for the record, if an open and honest primary were held for the democrats, Kamala would not have finished in the top 3. I genuinely believe that. She was an awful candidate.

Trump is a billionaire and 79 years old. He does not need or have to work another day in his life. Its crazy to think he is in the White House scheming to make another billion before he takes a dirt nap.

Its one of two things or both. 1.) He commiserates with some of these people since he has been prosecuted both criminally and civilly over financial issues. 2.) He thinks their contributions will outweigh anything shady that they did. As to the latter he is from NYC and IMHO that whole town is shady.

It's crazy that you voted for him, and that you believe he is not a crook. BTW, he is officially a crook, since he has 34 felony convictions to his name.

@fatpiggy - thank you for continuously demonstrating you’re too dumb to engage in anything that comes close to resembling an intelligent conversation. I’m sorry the few times you tried on here ruined your confidence, but at least you gave us some laughs!
I'm trying to decide who is more dumb and deluded:. FatPiggy or Hermy McFluffins (aka m.knox). These two posters are perhaps the two biggest trolls on this Board, and completely invested in Mango Mussolini.

you know what's crazier? Millions upon millions of people voted for him as opposed to voting for the sitting VP of the United States, even though they knew they were voting for a crook. I don't know what that says about the crook or what that says about the VP or the process that selected either to be their party's nominee.

It's a little semi psychotic to keep harping on something that is reality - trump is president even though he is a crook. A majority of Americans voters preferred him over a non crook. That says something about how the American people feel about his crimes. By the way, just an aside, the country mindset has shifted significantly since we were 20. Back then, if you were homosexual not only would you not have been elected you couldn't serve in the military or get a security clearance. If you were a convicted "crook" no way would you have won an election. My point? The only people who seem to care if Trump is a crook are those who didn't vote for him and can't seem to find any path to the reality that even though he was convicted he is still president and those who voted for him really don't care

I agree that this is a fair take, but its wild to me that the onus continues to be, with the folks that are upset that a politician is a criminal. And NOT with those that are supporters of a criminal.
People who have convinced themselves that its somehow in the best interest of the country, to elect someone who will steal, lie and cheat the people.... I just cannot understand people who think like that.

For example: If a democrat at any level of government, did what is being described in this thread. I would want them gone immediately and charged and locked up for obvious crimes of bribery.

Take it a step further and mention constant, rampant sexual assault.

Id love to know which of the MAGAS would be fine with letting their teenage daughter alone with DJT.

here's my problem with your whole line of thought....and I know nothing about crypto, the trump family involvement, and foreign governments investing...But I do know this, you and folks like dpic, tboone, valley and a couple of others are so against trump on every single issue that bringing up another just goes right into my BFD folder. Now, you might be 100% right on your thoughts, but if the past is any indicator of the present, if Trump were doing something even on the edge of impropriety, democrats would be filing suits, referring complaints to DoJ and clamoring for trump's head. It's like the little boy who cried wolf. After a while you get bored/tired of it

Agreed that pardoning this guy doesn't look good, but as Bdgan pointed out he did his time and paid a fine. That's better than some of the undocumented migrant /criminals/ murderers have done and we release them time after time.
It’s ignorant for you to completely dismiss the situation at hand because certain people are against it… although it is informative because it demonstrates how Trump has insulated himself from scrutiny by his base.

The migrant comment is a textbook red herring - why does MAGA love the use of red herrings?

Change the entire scenario to read “Obama” (vs. Trump) - what would be your reaction if Obama or any Democrat made hundreds of millions in income from a crypto company they set up before the election? It’s not like this has been in the family for decades.

Ask yourself why a MIDDLE EASTERN GOVERNMENT would funnel billions in payments through a tiny, recently formed crypto company. Can you think of any precedent?

On #1 - the Supreme Court ruled a president can’t be held criminally liable, so he feels completely protected from prosecution

On #2 - this is just an absurd statement. How would you measure the return vs. favors provided due to direct compensation to the Trump family? Why are you okay with the Trump family benefiting from a foreign government’s actions and not the American people? I’m not even sure how to respond to the NYC comment - so because you think it’s a shady town then Trump is absolved from any sins because he’s surrounded by crooksters and doesn’t know any better?

I think you missed my point, or I didn't do a very good job of explaining myself. I don't know if Trump did anything illegal, immoral or otherwise on the crypto thing. As I said, I don't understand the entire crypto issue. And regardless of what you think, I believe it would be "ignorant" to take a negative position on something I know nothing about.

My point was that it's hard for me to get worked up on something I know nothing about, based on statements from people who are against trump on everything he does. As I said, like the little boy who cried wolf, after a while the cries have no meaning, even if the wolf is standing in the doorway.

If you said "Obama" and I knew as much as I do about crypto as I do now, I would have zero comment, the same as my comment on Trump. I wouldn't know if he did anything illegal or immoral either.

What's annoying is the MAGA group never, and I mean truly never will call out blatant corruption.

I'm still waiting for when you will make any actual negative comment about anything Trump has done without a qualifying "both sides" statement.

You haven't been paying attention...I don't agree with tariffs, I think they do more harm than good. I would have had the government open by giving the extensions the Democrats want and eliminating the other $1.2 trillion in their demand proposal. I disagree with the Hegseth appointment. there's 3. I don't necessarily have to make negative comments to make a point. I just don't get as worked up as you do over all this political stuff. I know that Trump pushes the envelope, and I'm ok with that. In the end it always comes back to a legal opinion and so far where so many of you on the left seem to have come unglued either over "corruption" , fascist", "Nazi", or "dictator," courts have held for Trump as often as not, or so it seems.

I have to admit I'm fascinated that you have a problem recognizing that there are always at least two sides to every issue. I honestly don't know how you ever have a discussion or make decisions without recognizing all alternatives, that not everybody agrees with you, and that sometimes you might not be right. You want everybody to see things the same way you do. I don't think that's realistic. Did you ever read "to kill a mockingbird?" On of the major tenants in the book was that you really can't understand someone until you "walk a mile in his shoes". That always stuck with me. So, I try to see things from other's perspectives. That concept has always worked well for me. And, obviously I try hard to see things from the point of view of others that don't agree with me -even you

You talk about corruption. Where you see corruption, others don't. It's just that simple. Where others saw Biden corruption, you didn't. That's life

Thank you for your response. My point is that the transaction between his crypto company and Binance / UAE is well documented - it’s reflected in his financials. Are you not at least intrigued enough to learn more about crypto to understand if this is a conflict of interest or, even worse, corruption?

I appreciate you don’t want to be immediately worked up because you’re skeptical of bias. But I encourage you to review the objective facts and make a determination for yourself.

For Presidential actions only. You do not know what he "feels" unless you are psychic.

Get back to me when you have done a thorough investigation of the Clinton Foundation. You will be looking for a long time because they are as transparent as a lead door.

If I thought he could be bought I might worry. He was doing global deals way before he was President.

What sins? The sham felonies? I think and hope SCOTUS will throw those out.

Nope maybe he sees those he pardoned as no different than the democrat crooks who run NYC that shake down business owners all the time to get permits etc.

If SCOTUS throws it out I guess you still have the civil judgement for that crazy Carroll to hang your hat on.

I did not vote for Trump in 2016 or Clinton either. I was a "never" Trumper for about 6 months after he was elected. I still think he has the public persona of a turd. Apparently he is charming in private by accounts from frenemies like Bill Maher.

Guys, I care about policy. I like results. I liked what he did from 2017-2020 and what he is doing now. Everything? No, but I am a Reaganite not a MAGA populist.

The minor concern I had before the election was Ukraine.

A lot of trad pubs were upset with him on Ukraine. Some of MAGA buys into the Jewish president of Ukraine is a Nazi BS because they are Buchananites. Buchananites are anti-Semitic isolationists. Pat was good to carry the fight to leftist on Crossfire but would never get my vote!

I never fully worried (smug grin behind this keyboard.) I have followed Putin since his rise and knew that it just a matter of time before Trump would change course. Why? You know the old story of the scorpion and the frog. Scorpion stings frog halfway across river dooming both to death. Scorpion explains as they are about to die that he couldn't help himself its just his nature. For me Putin is transparent, not to ever be trusted and never fooled me like he did W. Bush and probably Trump at first. Trump is still too nice to Tzar Putin IMHO.

Long and short of it I gave up caring about scandals after the Russia hoax, 2 sham impeachments and the farce that lead to the convictions in leftist la la land NYC. My concern with the latter was how it might affect the election and his ability to govern. Both happily resolved. He has picked up where he left off in 2020 and is accelerating a much needed downsizing of the administrative state in size and scope.

Some leftists might run around with their hair on fire. I however know he will not cut it enough. It would take a 90%+ reduction of the administrative state along with repeal of the 16th and 17th amendments, Johnson's worst society, and FDRs ponzi scheme to make me happy.

So Trump is NOT extreme enough for me.

So carry on with the faux outrage over the scandal of the day. Tommorrow will probably provide you with something new to complain about from Herr Hit...uhm Trump.

No, I only need to watch what he says and what he does. This isn't hard for normal people to recognize.

As the Bible says: We know him by his fruits. He shows us every single day what a horrible person he is.

Matthew 7:15-20
New King James Version
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

from my perspective, I think a lot of what Trump and his family does is questionable. From the sales of ties, steaks etc all, to his university, to his son in law's hedge fund and the mid east nations involved, to the excessive use of executive orders, and the list goes on. I realize that other than Biden, Billy beer, this is the first instance of having so many businessmen/entrepreneurs so directly involved in the government and business enterprises at the same time. There is a line at which point normal business crosses over to conflicts of interest. I feel the same way about all our other elected officials taking advantage of insider trading to enrich themselves, or ghost writing books and earning 7 figures advance deals. Trump, as well as many of our leaders, certainly could be accused of either conflict of interest or corruption.

I do feel and did feel at the time that creating a crypto coin, as did Melania I believe, was questionable. But I know what I don't know, and in those instances I depend on those more knowledgeable to take the lead. In the corruption of Trump on crypto, I honestly believe that it's easy to claim "Corruption" and much harder to make the term stick. In this regard, I fall back on the knowledge that suing Trump, or just filing charges against him, is not foreign to his critics or adversaries. In fact, sometimes it seems like sport. If they felt there was even a modicum of illegal activity, they would have initiated some legal action. So far, they haven't done so, not that they won't in the future. So, if Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, Nancy pelosi and even, Letitia James haven't taken any actions, I have this feeling that there isn't any there there. Now I know that means I'm not thinking for myself. But when working when I had legal issues, I called in lawyers, when I had financial issues, I called in my CFO, etc. Maybe that's a character flaw

I have never argued that Trump is not my president. Like it or not, that is just a fact. The nation can have only one president at a time, and he is the guy right now. (I regard those posts on the web saying "Not my president" as not only non-factual but lame as hell.)

All of that being said, I do not feel any obligation (civil, moral, or otherwise) to support him or his policies. I am adamantly against political violence, however.

Another of these realities is that you voted for him even though he is a crook. His serial grifting since taking office is just more evidence of how big a crook he is. I don't see much objection from you about THAT. And the fact that millions of other MAGA folks are similarly unfazed by his blatant criminality does not change things. Another of these realities is that you voted for him even though he is a crook. His serial grifting since taking office is just more evidence of how big a crook he is. I don't see much objection from you about THAT. And the fact that millions of other MAGA folks are similarly unfazed by his blatant criminality does not change things. It's all more than a bit sad and crazy. Shouldn't we be entitled to a higher standard than that in the guy who occupies the Oval Office?
you obviously didn't read my post about trump corruption in crypto

what would you propose we do? impeach him.

Yow won't admit this, but Kamala was not a good candidate. The only people who could vote for her were the zealots who would pull the"d" lever even if the devil were running. I could say the same thing about republicans by the way. For independents, of which I am one, the choice was one bad one or the other.

Let's face it, at least from my perspective, the parties methods for choosing candidates isn't giving us the best ones. Neither Trump nor Harris should have been anywhere near having their names on the ballot. JMO

my younger brother passed the bar, first time. The only thing I took away from that is that the bar exam must not be too hard. But, no, I doubt trump would pass the bar. For him, good thing that wasn't a requirement for the presidency. IMO we'd be a lot better off if we had a few engineers and economists in the house and Senate a few less lawyers

I don’t have the news article but a few years ago in South Carolina a prominent man’s son failed the bar and made a stink and somehow the actual pass/fail was revealed. Don’t remember the exact numbers but it was like 700 out of 712 were given PASS on the BAR EXAM.

It seems that the BAR is not that much of an indication of intelligence but of being able to sign your name on the top of the test.

I always think that DEI doctors or the doctor who finished last in his class might be my next doctor.

Sobering thought.

Trump is an effective communicator, regularly thinks outside the box, has charisma, and has the ability to express his opinions in a manner that others can understand.

Dislike him, that is fine. But to call him dumb is not a fair critique. He isn’t scientist level smart, but he is light years ahead of Kammy. She is just not a smart individual.

If @LafayetteBear thinks President Donald Trump is dumb or stupid I would love to compare the metaphoric manhood comparison of Trump to Lafayette Bear

Let’s compare the life and resume of Trump versus Lafayette Bear

I may be wrong but Lafayette Bear is a roach when compared to Donald Trump the Bigger than life success

Even if like Lafayette Bear is right about Trump being evil he is still a HUGE EVIL SUCCESS

And Lafayette Bear is still a roach

Now no disrespect to roaches and Lafeyette Bear

His mouth just speaks out of his league

To be fair to Lafayette Bear I consider myself at the bottom of the significance in life so Lafayette Bear yes you are better than me

However you are nothing when compared to the success and leadership of Trump
