This is not new. Its been going on for a few years. Yes, even Hawks. Look at Wetjens pants. The crazy thing is there is specifically a rule against that, AND an official charged with checking that very uniform violation at each game, and YET. Just another case of the NCAA choosing which rules they are willing to enforce, and which ones they will overlook, EVEN when it could involve player safety, like the wearing of knee pads in their football pants which IS mandatory. The rule actually states: the pad must be integrated into the uniform. Basically theres a pocket on the inside of the pants. Of course the pants (and hence the padding) are designed to be worn down OVER the knee. Hence the "knee pad". Of course if the pad is in the inner pocket they may not actually be breaking the rule, BUT of course then you see what you get.

Not sure if any of us should care that they basically wear shorts, but when it's obvious that they were cutoff by hand vs. made that way, it looks cheap and ******. Looks similar and as bad as Belichick's hand cut sleeves.
My main concern is that its a player safety issue, and thats why there actually is a rule in place, and yet.....Its the same thing as in a work place. At times you get equipment that doesn't work properly and should not be used as its not really safe, and yet the company keeps using it anyway. Then they have safety meetings and talk about how important it is that their people work safely. You have to walk the walk if your going to talk the talk, or else the safety program means nothing. Besides the pants you see players all the time especially QB's with no mouthguard. Thats another mandatory piece of equipment there for their safety, and yet you see players without them or they don't have them in their mouth when they tackle a player....

Funny story. When I was at Iowa the officials were pretty tight concerning uniform and more specifically pad violations. Iowa had a DL that when dressing for the game could not find the pad for his tailbone. He did not want to call attention to this as he had other similar instances in the past and would have been called out by the coaches and likely punished. Because I am old and often times the visitors' locker room doubled as a women's locker room there was a sanitary napkin dispenser so he grabbed one of those and threw it in as his pad. It worked.

I guess it speaks to how old I am, (played high school in the mid to late 70's). That pad wasn't integrated into the pants. You wore basically a pair of "girdle shorts" under your uniform pants and the tailbone and hip pads were in those shorts.

Hope its like a 10 degree wind chill when Ducks play Kinnick. See if they wear their shorty shorts
Let’s be honest you only hope the weather is that bad so it plays a huge factor and Iowa gets the ugly low scoring game that Kirk and Co. ultimately want. What Iowa fans fail to realize about Oregon is that it rains there all the time and the weather gets pretty damn cold as well. Just way less wind chill than Iowa.

No their size, talent, and speed at every position is what is going to help them. Lanning is great at getting his players ready to go and they love playing for him. He shows he trusts his players out on the field. They were 7-9 on 4th down against Penn St. players love playing for a coach who has confidence in them to do their job. The uniforms just make all their great play look even better. Maybe when Kirk finally retires cause we all know he’ll never be fired they can bring in a young up and coming coach who likes offense, recruits talent outside the tri-state, and updates the uniforms more than once a year with more than a red/white/blue herky decal.

The short pants don't bother me, I'd wear them the same (I hated knee pads in football and loved having zero pads in rugby).

But, it is a rule and I'm a bit confused as to why it isn't ever enforced; same with mouth guards.

Seems like they've gotten shorter this season and last than they ever were in previous years. I remember wearing them like this without knee pads in HS practices way back in the 80s, but would've never been allowed in games. With as short as they've gotten it just looks stupid IMO. I'm surprised KF allows it to be honest.

This is from yesterday, where #18 Oklahoma (7-2) won at #14 Tennessee (6-3), 33-27.

OU's kicker was 4-4 on FGs (long of 55) and 3-3 on extra points for 15 points.

Thoughts on his shorts? :)

From the NCAA:

"The rules subcommittee proposed that players wear leg coverings from the top of their shoes to the bottom of their pants.

"Players would have to wear the same covering style and colors for that particular game.

"Players out of compliance with the rule would have to leave the game for at least one down and correct the issue."
