Haven’t heard his name much lately

Hasn’t recorded a sack in a month

Played well against MSU and has kind of disappeared
Not shocking to me that a freshman dlineman would hit a wall in the middle of Big 10 play.

My point stands that people have overlooked getting him from the portal and then actually getting him to produce. He wasn't some washed up 5 star 3rd stringer from OSU that occasionally played on special teams. I'm guessing he could have literally chose his team.

You do realize we are 13th in team rushing in the B1G right? So I wouldn’t go bragging about that mighty O-Line rushing attack too much. We have a good back, not a good line. Hence 13th in the league

13th in team rushing. Given up a million sacks but it’s not Donnie’s fault. Come on man. It’s year 4. What’s it going to take?
It's Year 3 🙄

According to the article linked below, Matt Rhule has signed an extension with Nebraska.

"Matt Rhule has signed a multi-year extension with Nebraska, keeping the third-year head coach of the Cornhuskers in Lincoln beyond 2030. This, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. An announcement is expected Thursday."

Once again settling on MEDIOCRITY...

plan a: rhule more then suffices considering our past hires.
plan b: but kiffen should be reminded by the ad where his dad coached..
plan c: and we should have good relations with fritz...

now the ad can get the stadium squared away..
needs to be nice seating, not benches/cup holders...
south end zones needs to be horse shoe shaped..(then it can be bowl shaped if the north is redone in 50 years)
add a few bucks to the tickets or beer, for nil

Rumor has it that booster club dues are going to quadruple for season tickets either next year or the year after to help pay for seating renovations.

I wouldn’t be surprised one bit what Dennen has planned but he is nuts if he quadruple the season ticket renewal.

Yeah but how does your O-line get worse in year 3? And the past years lines weren't much better. And this is coming from someone who appreciates what Rhule has done. But also acknowledges that SF was the second worst coach in program history and that Rhule so far has only brought the pendulum to average.
Very good point. I hope when Ruhle and Dannen discussed the extension, that player development and evaluation of position coaches would have been discussed. How many supposed 4 star O line guys did we bring in, and how many have not been a total flop? Lutovsky is the only one I can think of who has been anywhere close to competent. There simply has been zero player development with the O Line. Is the position coach, the playbook, or is this the result of a poor S & C program? The idea that our O line would compete for the Joe Moore award is laughable. Many things are headed the right way in the program. But in the B1G you better have good line play on both sides of the ball. We need to really focus on that and changes needs to be made to staff and probably S & C for that the happen in IMHO.

Justin Evans started as a third year player and actually got a start as a RS freshman. Gottula got pressed into starting as a RS freshman and held his own. Pritchett's play has improved since the start of the season. I think the issue is really that NU didn't get serious about recruiting the Oline until Rhule showed up, and that first group is only in its third year. In the heyday of the Pipeline, only the most talented kids were able to play as RS Sophomores and even then they mostly didn't start.

I think we were serious about trying to recruit the O line, but Frost’s death spiral and Austin’s malaise crippled our efforts. Raiola’s first year he had a late start and no relationships to work from while he was trying to recruit to a sinking ship. Call it an excuse. Call it a reason. I view it as the factors leading to the hole we have in our junior and senior O line classes. Ideally it would have been nice to find another OT in the portal but it was tough to predict that Gottula would start the season battling leg injuries.

There is no way we want to see Rhule leave and take top performing players with him (and we're talking about the best of the best). Plus losing some top recruits. Then after Florida, LSU make their hires, we're battling Wisconsin, Arkansas and maybe Florida State, who knows what else for the leftovers. The last few hires were worse than Rhule. The odds would be that our next hire will be not as good of a coach.
Its a lot easier to hire after a coach leaves than when a coach is fired.

This is the sure kiss of death, both for this coming game and remainder of Rhule's tenure before the inevitable "we suck" buyout.

What a shiatshow.

ADs are ADs because they could never make it in any reputable C-Suite. Bunch of idiots.

Everybody probably already knows this about Matt. His Temple teams won games against three ranked opponents. 2014 #21 East Carolina, 2015 #21 Memphis and 2016 #19 Navy. That's the good news. The bad news is he has lost to the 24 other ranked teams his teams have played. Temple 6, Baylor 11 and Huskers 7

When you take over rebuilding projects who play a lot of ranked teams, you’re going to lose to quite a few ranked teams.

Was Dannen smart enough to lower the buyout for firing Rhule? If not, both of them need to go.

Just because a L shows up for tonight you make this post. Nothing about the actual performance matters, just the result. We break a long TD run the last drive and win and you don’t say anything, even though it would’ve been a fluke play.

You're right. If a long TD run broke on the last play and we won, I wouldn't say anything negative. However, this is now professional college football and every week matters. If you think paying a coach $10 million a year to get 6 to 7 wins a season is good enough, then you are part of the problem.

The problem is there are too many moral victory husker fans now.
