*****Ashland vs Iowa Exh. Game Thread*****

[QChawks]

6:30pm BTN+

Here we go boyz!

Ashland has been a darn good DII team, they've gone 205-21 in the last 7 years and are ranked #6 in the WBCA preseason poll

Last season they were 32-4 overall and 19-1 in the Great Midwest in 2024-25, winning both the conference regular-season and tournament titles for a fourth straight year. Ashland also reached the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 for the eighth time in program history.

[Franisdaman]

I demand that we win this game.

Thank you.

[SCHawkFan]

Nine of their 13 players are below six feet tall, with seven 5'9" or shorter. Their tallest player is a 6'3" RS freshman. Iowa should be able to overpower them inside. Being so small, I assume they count on quickness and 3-point shooting, but Iowa's length should be able to disrupt their ability to pass the ball effectively. I anticipate a lot of full-court pressure and an easy win (which any exhibition against a DII team should be).

[Franisdaman]

I hope Ashland enjoys playing a ranked team in front of a huge crowd & I hope the staff gets what they want out of the game.

I think they know they aren't going to push Iowa around tonight

Just getting the family ready here to head down to Carver in about an hour. We will be there cheering on the team, and hopefully eating a carver cone. I'll destroy it man-like to hopefully make the broadcast. Stay tuned.

[Franisdaman]

The starters?

1. Chit Chat
2. Taylor McCabe
3. Kylie Feuerbach
4. Hannah Stuelke
5. Ava Heiden

Might not be a huge crowd, unfortunately.

[UpstreamHawkeye]

We'll see if Deal starts tonight.

Anyway to watch without BTN+ or being in IC? How's about one of those free streams.

Chit Chat is good

[Manfredi]

Rodriguez not shy

[Denmar]

Rodriguez has a nice stroke from 3. Doesn’t shoot from the hip

[QChawks]

Chit Chat is good

great defense but I don’t expect a lot of scoring

Impressed with her passing and pushing pace... it's what we need from her...scoring is a bonus.

[Andrewrayhons]

Lots of line changes so far, crowd is better than i thought it would be for an exhibition game.

Looking forward to seeing the girls start firing from 3, I think we have only attempted 3 in the first quarter.

[paladinhawk_rivals]

Houston in at the end of the quarter.

[Denmar]

HS struggling with the bunnies. Missed 2 in a row

Emily Rodriguez is going to get a lot of playing time.

Rodriguez not shy

She's making an impression...

[QChawks]

Rodriguez is a nice addition

[UpstreamHawkeye]

Hmm, two travels on Deal.

[QChawks]

Addie not impressing at all

[2212hawk2]

Mallegni is hopefully ok. Took a shot to the mouth and twisted her leg in the same play. Hasn’t returned.

[paladinhawk_rivals]

Has Mallegni played? okay just saw the other post.

Addie not impressing at all

I'm sure she'll settle in after a few games. She's too talented not to....

[QChawks]

I’m so glad Kylie came back. Such a calming presence with the newbies.

Looks like Journey is getting her minutes.

[QChawks]

51-27 half

Ashland is going to be a force again in D2

I think it's very unlikely that Rodriguez will remain on the bench. She's the only guard/wing with skill to create her own shot. She’s so good. We hope Deal can do that too, but we already know that McCabe and Kylie aren't that type of player.

[QChawks]

Ava is going to have a monster season
