Good game this week. I don’t gamble (other than Iowa lunches) but always enjoy this thread and seeing the results. Nice work this season.
Weekend Highlights and Lowlights.
IND -26.5 overwhelmed UCLA in a game that was over in the first few minutes 56-6; IND may be
a couple touchdowns better than they were last year;
TEXAS A&M -1.5 stormed back by from a halftime deficit to overwhelm LSU 49-25; this is a really good A&M team and will be a handful for even the very best teams out there;
OREGON -31.5 had surprising difficulty with Wiscy but prevailed 21-7 at home; ORE obviously flat for this game and Wiscy scored for the first time in 3 games. ORE can play with anyone in the country;
ISU -2.5 beset with injuries, lost a halftime lead vs. BYU and was beaten decisively 41-27; BYU will be beaten by a team of clearly superior talent only, this is a tough, gritty team that doesn't quit;
UTAH -14 clobbered COLO in a game that was never this close 53-7; this game was 46-0 before half;
WASH -3 had control all the way defeating a declining ILL by a score of 42-25; ILL has been doing a good job of scoring but have lost their defensive mojo;
IOWA -7.5 beat last week's Husker daddy MINN in a men vs. boys matchup 41-3; for those of us expecting a win against the Hawkeyes, it could happen, but teams are going in opposite directions;
KU -3.5 was handily defeated at home by KSU in a 42-17 score.
Other notes for those who may not follow the national scene very closely...
Bama managed to squeak out a win against SO. CAR,
TEXAS struggled again winning in OT against MISS ST,
OLE MISS scored 35 on a Sooner Defense with Kiffin scoring his first road victory against a ranked team after being 0-6,
TX TECH looks like a handful for any team in the country after shutting out a hapless OKIE ST team 42-0,
MEMPHIS eliminated SO. FLA from any playoff spot with a 3 point win,
GA TECH continues undefeated in the ACC, MIAMI (FLA) struggled early but dominated Stanford 42-7.
VANDY and MIZZOU played a really tough, competitive, fun game to watch as MIZZOU failed at the 1 yard line on a Hail Mary at the buzzer to lose by a touchdown. VANDY is salty.
It appears the playoff caliber teams are beginning to separate themselves from the pretenders. It's gonna take a helluva good team to win it all this year because there are a half dozen really outstanding teams out there.
