Thought this was common knowledge
It’s assumed and I guess with the contract he has, he can’t fear getting fired. He’s going to be set with 80-90 million more in net worth than most Drs who save lives virtually every day.

I'm out on #1 OP. I'm gonna wake up, eat some breakfast, maybe mow the lawn - and then sit down and watch the game. Sorry, Nebraska's gonna have to somehow muster the energy and courage to beat the juggernaut that is NW without me bringing their juice for them. If I see Gottula get run over like a meth ***** on black friday at Walmart, I might even go do something else. This horseshit is getting old.

Now, if they want to appoint me king for a day I'd be happy to fire Donnie and make sure that EJ gets 25 carries. It's not rocket science.
Upon further reflection, I decided I don't want to be a miserable ******* like some of the people on this board, so I bought two tickets and I'm going to go enjoy the game.

This is great game to enjoy, if we win we are bowl eligible and I think we have a good chance to win. If we fall behind early though I think the energy will be very bad. Most fans know this is a must win game looking at the remaining schedule. I don't see another clear win, whether we beat NW or not, and losing 6 in a row, while missing all of the big dogs in the big 10 would be really hard to accept. People may say that this is a terrible time to fire a coach, but from an entertainment perspective, is there anything worse that watching our favorite team losing 6 in a row in a soft schedule, knowing that next year is murderers row. The only purpose of the Nebraska Cornhuskers is fan entertainment, despite what players and coaches say, it isn't to fill their pockets with millions, they get millions because they bring us distraction from our lives.

Who else can Rhule call to come in and save the second half of the season? Dana aint it.

Who is the best available OC out there? We could have a chance for some movement pretty quickly.
Nebraska would need a new o-line to improve in 2nd half of season.

I’m afraid Gronowski is going to have a career day against our defense. Dude is just a clutch performer from what I’ve seen.
Perhaps, although I think it’s more likely that Iowa’s o-line and running backs have a field day vs Nebraska.

Was out of state last week, watched the game with a group of NU fans, 50 y.o. crowd. Some had played college ball others/most of us just High School. By the end of the third quarter the frustration/anger was off the chart. The obvious view was we were outcoached and outplayed, offense/def/special teams all looked like they didn't know what the hell to do. The question asked most was "who the hell are we, what do we do well anymore"? The group was to say the least very PO'd. If the opponent were Ohio State, Alabama, Indiana...that's different but not against Minnesota, especially this year. How do we manage to pick up only 36 yards Rushing against Minn. while Purdue is able to put up 253", WTF? Come on Dana, establish the run and then try the play action pass for a change, or is that to obtuse for you? The feeling was if Rhule wants more money for NIL he and his staff could start by donating their pay for the week because they sure didn't deserve any pay for that mess of a game.
Do you realize how weak/ineffective Nebraska’s o-line looked (at least vs Minnesota), so it was difficult to run consistently.

The reality for Nebraska in the B1G is that every team is tough. That is the reality for below average programs.

The reality is except for Ohio state Indiana and Oregon it can be a struggle each week for the rest of the teams. Make a few mistakes and you’ll lose. Maybe that means 13-14 of the big ten teams are below average?

It's funny how you couldn't find most of the sunshine pumpers on this board all week with a search warrant after the *** whipping at Minnesota, but here they are again chirping away. LOL
That’s fair - I’ve been traveling all week but would have limited the time regardless to avoid the negativity. It was a trash game - we didn’t show up and it sucked. I’m not going to jump into the board when it’s so toxic.

I’m also not touting us as the 2nd coming of the 95 Huskers after a win v Northwestern. I’m happy we won - I think we are better than last year, I think we are young and aside from the MN game we are where I thought we would be heading into USC. If a fan can’t be excited about a W and it’s considered “chirping” by praising the team - I have to question which website I’m on.

Jumping on the board after a horrendous performance at MINN isn't so much toxic as people don't want to rejoin the conversation and face the music. I look at our schedule of Akron, Houston Christian and no OSU, no IND, no ORE and say big whoopee!! where are we actually at in this conference?

Disagree that it is not toxic. It’s out of control - we won’t win another game, we suck, Rhule is garbage, Dylan is horrible, the Oline suck, we can’t tackle, I hope Rhule leaves and takes Dylan with him, we need to burn it down and start over, bla bla bla. People are so reactive after a loss.

I agree that we don’t know where we are in the conference hierarchy - that’s why I’m excited to see the rest of the games. I know NW was coming in with a lot of swagger after winning 4 straight and we beat them. I love that USC is coming in favored and many people think we will get our doors blown off. I’m looking forward to an awesome game - a night game on national TV - blackout game - I’m juiced and hope the boys show out and we get a big time W. Going to have to play lights out and hope we do!

In my opinion, a win against USC changes the whole outlook of this season. The problem is they are a terrible matchup for us. This win would far surpass the Cincy game because it would mean we actually beat a good football team during the latter part of the season. It's nothing like beating a hapless Wiscy team last year to stop the bleeding, USC is a real team. NW had a pretty good running attack but couldn't throw the ball a lick. Different animal this Saturday when it comes to challenging our DB's.

There's nothing that can be done this year about the OL. But, retaining Raiola to run the OL is just trying to paper over an issue that is gonna be there everytime against good pass rushers. If Rhule is serious about making NU more than a mid tier team he has to do what he has to do, regardless of consequences.

I watch the games and I root on the Huskers, but I have very little expectations from week to week. That's why I don't get too high when they win or too low when they lose. We had too little of the former and too much of the latter.

I’m not sold that the O line struggles are all on Donovan. Rhule has coached the O line. Donovan wouldn’t be doing anything Rhule and Dana don’t approve of. The O line performance is ultimately the responsibility of the OC and head coach who both have stated specific things they want from their position coach. Donovan is an easy scape goat. Corcoran at least seemed to do his job when called on at RT in the second half.

Correct, the responsiblity ladder goes to the top, Rhule, then Dana and ultimately Raiola. What we've been trying hasn't been working. It's a deeper issue, but ask yourself IF a coach can make a significant difference than the one currently failing?

For those that feel that way, the case example is Ekeler. How did he take a group of primarily returning players and convert them from a crappy overall unit in all areas, k.o. return and receiving, punt returns and punt coverage, punting, and field goal efficiency and turn it into one of the best units in the conference?

We have a veteran group, with 2 key additions through the portal, yet still produce the same lousy product. Not only that, NU has been stockpiling OG's,OT's and C's for 3 years and other than Gottula none of them have been meaningful additions for crunch time. How is that possible?

2-3 years in the S & C, diet and nutrition department and none of them are physically or mentally ready to take over for some very average incumbents? I find that hard to believe. If that's the case, Raiola can not only NOT coach, he also has zero eye for talent and kids that are available that can be developed.

Ek has complete control of his unit. Donovan is a peon.
