the only thing I noticed was Beau Stephens went, but I think I saw him come back in.

on a related issue, I will be posting later on why on earth Ferentz keeps his best (and irreplaceable) players; i.e., Gronowski, in for so late. they could easily get hurt. (does the name Adam Robinson ring a bell?)

True, but later I saw Leighton Jones back in Stephens's spot. I hope Beau isn't hurt too bad. At least we have a bye week.

Yah, KF is about the only guy I know who does this idiotic thing. It keeps backups from getting vital game experience, and it unnecessarily exposes your top guys to injury. And yes, what KF allowed to happen to Adam Robinson is unforgivable. Robinson, an outstanding freshman RB, was still in the game late when Iowa was leading MSU something like 35-0, and Robinson suffered a concussion. The aftermath of the concussion led to some bad decisions on Adam's part, and Robinson's career ended abruptly after his brilliant freshman season. KF sure as hell didn't learn that from Hayden Fry. In fact, I think KF, consciously our unconsiously, has spent his entire career making sure he doesn't do anything like Fry did, with the exception of the swarm. And that has prevented KF's teams from being as successful as they otherwise would have been.

KF is an odd duck in many ways, and refusing to sub in blowouts and refusing to keep playing football with the backups is one glaring example. Instead, he keeps the starters in and runs out the clock. Weird, and wrong.

Hoping that Stephens can get the rest he needs over the next two weeks. He was still limping when he was running to get Floyd with the rest of the team.

?? I'm not sure who you're talking about, but it can't be Adam Robinson. For one, he played two seasons at Iowa.

What do you mean? ARob was never the same player again and eventually got booted for some bad decisions... I won't use that excuse for why he made bad decisions, but anyone probably could. The concussion certainly affected his playing career. It's unfortunate because 403 is right, he should have been on the bench watching a scout team guy.

Playing Michigan State was a bigger risk factor than how many minutes you were in the game.

Narducci practically taught head hunting at both MSU and Pitt. His teams were a good example of why targeting had to become a rule.

The play where Robinson got concussed was textbook targeting. As was the time Shonne Greene had to leave the game against Northwestern.

ARob played 2 seasons, and Iowa beat MSU 15-13 his freshman season. The details don’t add up.

He got hurt in 2010 against MSU when we were up 37-6, he barely played after and had 2 seasons remaining...

OK, but that's not what the poster said.

Following up your information, I see that Robinson was hurt early in the fourth quarter against #5 MSU. He had 20 carries in the game and RB2 Coker had 16. ARob missed the next game against Indiana, and Coker was the only RB who played. The following week ARob had 108 yards rushing against Northwestern. After that ARob and Coker had 9 carries each against OSU.

It looks to me like the Hawks had limited depth at RB at that point in the season, with TR-FR Coker as the only other RB available.

KF sometimes makes head-scratching decisions, but it looks like his reasoning was just fine regarding ARob's playing time. The concussion was obviously unfortunate, but it's unreasonable to blame KF for the injury and for ARob's subsequent bad decisions.

??? He said ARob was hurt his freshman year and didn't play after that. In the MSU game ARob's sophomore season Coker had almost as many carries, so Coker was getting PT even before the 4th quarter.
