Iowa has gone 72 consecutive games with out getting 300 passing yards. If we are looking at a 9/10 win season this has to end soon and need to start a streak of 300+ yards passing in a game. Go Hawks!

At this point we need to start using it as a marketing tool for recruits. We show them how many games we manage to win with a pathetic offense and say imagine what we could do with some real talent.
Hear ye, hear ye...all great, good or even potentially near good quarterback and wide receiver recruits, do not go near the Iowa football program for the reasons listed above. That is all

Iowa isn't throwing for 300 yards this year. It's a huge struggle just getting to 200 which has only happened once against UMASS. There are no more Umass"s on the schedule. Iowa's best offense is simply leveraging Gronowski by using his legs. He's a much more confident and efficient runner than he is a passer. Lester will keep using a lot of motion and short passes to keep defenses leaning the wrong way and getting beat. The wide receivers are going to be blocking and catching 3-5 yard swing passes. That's what the Iowa offense does well today.
Passing for 150 yards per game with 200 yards rushing is a winning formula. A game with 200 yards of each would be great.
If Minny does not have much pass rush then we might take some deep shots. I want to see Wetjen on a go/fly pattern deep
It's possible, but they've only hit one long pass through 7 games. It's way more likely to end up an interception or incomplete pass. I think Lester has figured out what Gronowski's strength is, and it's not throwing the ball downfield.

Iowa has only had 48 times where a QB has thrown for 300 yards (I imagine there are at least a couple games we reached 300 between two QBs but those aren't as easy to find). 26 wins, 21 losses and a tie. Throwing for 300 in and of itself is hardly a winning formula, especially considering how many of these 300 (and 400) yard games were against pre-1995 Northwestern when Hayden didn't mind running it up on them. We lost the only 500 yard game with Chuck Hartlieb against Indiana in 1988.

I realize that, was saying what I said because of Oregon, at USC and at Nebraska. My opinion is that running is going to need some big time passing assistance if we are going to be sucessful.
The difference between 2025 and past several seasons, it could happen.
Probably not this season. We just need enough of a passing game to make the defense not line up with 8 or 9 people in the box all game.
