Normally, I hate corporate sponsorships, despite the financial benefits to the University, but gotta admit, I actually like this one. John Deere is literally one of the stalwarts when it comes to local companies in Iowa. It "fits" so to speak.

This amidst struggling farm economy, decreased demand and layoffs? JD throws money at Iowa athletics to get people interested...

I guess it's better than "shittiest company in Iowa" Mediacom court...
pretty close imo

The purist in me hates it - but we’ve lost that battle a long long time ago and the toothpaste ain’t goin back in the tube. In today’s world of college sports, I love it. Necessary evil, probably.

The reality is, Iowa has precious few corporations that can make material donations like many other P4 schools do. Hate to say it, but even a Nebraska with all the larger corporations in Omaha have a much higher likelihood for big sponsorships. This is where having ISU kills us too…companies like HyVee and Casey’s, for example, either have to do both schools or none to avoid angering a big chunk of their customer base.

As long as they don’t start calling it “John Deere-Kinnick Stadium.”

This is hard not to see as a huge win for the hawks, having the largest and most recognizable AG manufacturer in the world support the team that has worn an emblem for forty years that states, America Needs Farmers, just makes sense.

I'd like to know how much money Iowa is getting in this deal. As others have said, it was inevitable given the current state of college sports.

it fits perfectly, the fans haven't had the right to repair the hawks offense for years (it's better this year), and farmers don't have the right to repair their tractors/combines.

SIAP, but Deere is hq'd in Illinois, not Iowa
Correct

Albright they have a big presence in the state, Iowa has the second most dealers (Texas is first)

plus John Deere has several production facilities in Iowa, including in Waterloo, Davenport, Des Moines (Ankeny), and Ottumwa.

I'd rather have a Casey's logo :)

No words just this on the 25 yard line with “IYKYK” below it.
