As far as Iowa's classes, 7 is probably a bit much, but what is the perfect number of teams in a Class?
I think 6 classes would be more than enough as I illustrated above. It's just finding the right balance of teams for each class.

Liberty wins a thriller against SE Polk, 31-28.
Liberty was up 17-14 at half.
They got the ball to start the 2nd half and were driving to go up 2 scores. Instead threw a pick that went back 85 yards. That SE Polk scored in 3 plays.
Liberty then went for 3 consecutive 4th downs (10, 12 and 5 yards) and Pryor Reiners (Randy Reiner's kid) caught all 3, 2 in heavy traffic for the long ones.
Bolts go up 24-21 with 5:50 left in the 4th after two insanely long, time consuming drives with that SEP score between.
SEP went down the field and scored a TD with 2:00 left to go up 28-24.
Liberty, out of timeouts, went down and scored in 30 seconds to go up 31-28.
SEP dropped the kickoff and it went out at the 2. They made two great plays on 3rd downs, including picking up 20 yards on a 3rd and 21. On that play, the back judge inexplicably stopped the clock after it ran down to 11 seconds. I think he thought it was a first down? Maybe? It should have been the last play of the game.
Instead, SEP got a 1st and attempted a 50 yard fg to tie that went wide.

Regina has 2 P4 guys in the class of 27, RB Savion Miller and LB Tate Wallace. Miller is at the game today. Not sure either has an Iowa offer yet but they both have some pretty nice offers…Mizzou, Miami, Tennessee.
Dowling has a young lineman that is highly ranked, class of 28 Carter Barrett.

I guess everyone is over complaining about catholic/private schools winning all the games in sports now. 
I remember when that was an extreme source of butthurt for a lot of adults back in the day.
Fact is nobody wants to see a team always winning and making it not even competitive or enjoyable for their competition (i.e. Penn State in wrestling, Ohio State, and before them Alabama, buying rosters and wins in football). It didn't actually matter if they were private or not.
Nobody in this state likes the DSM suburbs schools if you're not immediately attached to those schools, and Dowling is only and merely one of several cogs in that issue.
It's about access, and taking advantage of that factor. The private schools that aren't as successful typically either are in smaller or isolated communities, or deliberately sabotage their athletics to "focus on academics" (yes, this is a real thing, I'm just making it sound more menacing). Or in a few cases, are also surrounded by other very competitive, or bigger, school districts.
