If I didn’t know what the hell was wrong, that’s definitely the response I’d give the press.

Not saying that’s that’s the case, but it doesn’t help him at all from the pitchforks & torches. Only thing that will is better play on the field and salvage a few more wins this season.

Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I can’t believe he would even say these things. Much less in a one minute sound clip.

Whatever
Just produce
Belichick did this for years, but he was winning
Just start by beating Purdue and we'll see

FTR, he looks like an idiot with the whole "you guys call your shots" schtick
Just win, Greg - we pay your salary, you do your part

He's deploying an innovative new strategy of trying to stop the other team.
Man you can't make this sh_t up, stop telling us what you are gonna do and do it. Funny how he waited until after the Oregon game to come up with this when everyone knew their way a problem b4 the Oregon game. Now if we do well against the Purdues people will make out like his is some kind of great coach (Swindler)

He is so arrogant
I mean - it’s his job to say he’s going to fix it. He kind of has to put on that front.

TBH - I always thought he hired Rob as a placeholder because he was secretly hoping Anthony C wouldn’t work out in Jax and he would then throw a pot of money at him. That’s always been my theory. Absolutely no real data to support it and it wouldn’t have been easy to get Anthony here anyway , but that I think is where Greg’s arrogance lies. It would be like him to think he could get a guy like Anthony back here. If not Anthony maybe he had his eyes on someone else. Rob was stepping stone type that he thought had a higher floor. He thought wrong.

The word changes was used so many times, thought Greg was going to channel Ozzy:

Or David Bowie

Lyrics seem to fit:

Still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild, a million dead-end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker

Why doesn't he just fire robb smith and then publicly tell the media about it?

Defense literally cannot get worse than what it is now. Give the young guy Sparber a shot at being full time DC, and if it works, then Greg can gain a little bit of credibility back. Seems like a no brainer.

Shelby hopes he doesn’t change leading the team out of the tunnel with his tough guy posture and mean facial expression. Scary AND intimidating.

Gives opponents nightmares when they see it on film, Shelby is sure.

Had Gregory been the coach in the 1869 game, Custer could have held up a picture of the Schiano scowl and scared off all the Native American warriors at Little Bighorn in 1876.

Just speculation here and some random reasons with different thoughts.
1. Pride. It would be an admission hiring Robb was a mistake.
2. Maybe some of it is on the players, particularly the safeties. That question about the safeties really had him stumped.
3. Maybe Robb serves some other roles for the team, and he does not want to cut him loose until the season is over.
4. He realizes that firing Robb would give the fans and the media some satisfaction- but what if there are other issues and things do not improve.

when a coach is winning and acts like Schiano does: he's described as self assured and confident of himself
Let that coach head a losing program and he's an arrogant *******
Some people live to see others humble themselves. And some choose to not entertain that. Guess we'll see in the next two games what Schiano gets done.

You are on fire this evening, fella. "Live to see others humble themselves"? How about live to see people be accountable when they are being paid close to $7M/year and promised to bring championships to Rutgers football. Especially when they see a former peer like Indiana ascend so quickly, while watching the team regress in year 6.

We know the defense will be better this week for two reasons:

- Purdue doesn't have the same speed on offense as Oregon
- You can't possibly do worse than 750 yards allowed
Disagree. Giving up 450 to Purdue would be worse than 750 to Oregon

That’s not arrogance. It’s stupidity.

Speaking of #2, maybe he realized what a mistake he made paying Elad as much as he did.

According to well-placed sources, at wit’s end and after trying all failed fixes identified by his defensive braintrust, Grifter Greg‘s new changes rely on the Magic 8 Ball toy he’s had since childhood. “It’s something we haven’t tried“ Schiano said. “I also asked it if we will go 1-0 this week. I can’t tell you the answer, that wouldn’t be to our competitive advantage“, he added.

Greg's answer to what sounded like @Alec Crouthamel 's question---you stumped him for a bit.

I don’t think anyone stumped him. That’s a man that knows he screwed up. And he didn’t get ahead of it. I have said since the second game of the season that the safeties don’t get along. If it’s evident to me sitting in the stands it has to be evident to everyone in that locker room and on that coaching staff.
