I’ll be the first to admit, and it’s disappointing to say this, but Dana is not the answer.
First, his offense now isn’t even what he ran 10 years ago when he was elite… ot sure how he came up with it…
Next, he can’t run the ball effectively, or scheme a good running attack. We can’t win without that. I’ll take Notre Dames OC, Oline coach and pay them what they want.

finally, uncle Donnie is a fvcking sack, he needs to go as we have been **** for years under him, and he can take his whole family if that’s what it takes

Rhule clearly sucks as a coach so he needs good OC/DC under him to win… what we currently have is not it.
He better make the tough choices.

It is literally another year where we don’t even look like we are playing the same sport as the top 20 teams. I watched 5 games yesterday and they could all run up and down on us.. disciplined, smart, tackling, etc
3 more years wasted until we can fire Rhule
Now we are at the level where just making a bowl game is the goal… and I guess I’ll take it

A post trying to give us optimism we can beat Northwestern? We really need to evaluate where we are as a program. Meanwhile Iowa is able to find ways to go 6-1. Something Rhule has had a chance to do the last two years and failed miserably.
Iowa is 5-2, won by 1 at home, at night over a reeling Penn state team. We are the same as Iowa. But we could be better.

Matt Rhule better man up and say he made a mistake and let this team down by not putting all the questions about Penn State to bed but I doubt he will, he's too coy at times with the media.
Matt Rhule has done some serious damage to himself and I'm sure he's in damage control right now and who knows what he still wants, he still may want that PSU job for all I know.
For me the red flags are still up and I wouldn't bet on Nebraska right now, it's as big a gamble as it's ever been unfortunately. Just when I thought all the drama was gone here it is again raising it's ugly head, we really do seem to be cursed. 😭 🤬

It’s always been a square peg in a round hole type fit here. I don’t solely blame him as he is far more competent than Satt was.

We can beat every remaining team on our schedule but won’t. Not confident we win any more.
it's going to depend on the team leadership this week.. does the staff check out? do the players check out? or do they all come together and fight? how all this comes together this week, will determine the remainder of the season imo.

We're all NU fans of different types and with expectations. I can respect that although, I'm not what you would call a "sunshine-pumper." I try to deal with what the real situation is not what I wish it were.

I like Matt, he does a lot of great things overall. But am I under the illusion that ANYTHING in his history shows me he is gonna take NU to the imaginary level he speaks of? Hell no, the first guy who needs a reality check is Matt.

We can't get anywhere near what he aspires to attain when we go to IND and get completely swamped then go home a few weeks later and lose a sleep walking contest to UCLA in front of the home crowd. Dovetail that with a total physical a** whipping against MICH and follow that up by getting steamrolled on a Friday night against a team like MINN who is coming off a 42-3 shellacking by OSU.

This is the life a lifelong .500 coach and will remain so. Another "unexpected" loss to a team like NW or having USC hang about 40 points on us will bring everyone back to the same reality. Matt is a really good person, talks way too much, makes promises that defy his words, but he can't seem to help it.

Overall, he has cleaned up a ton of the riff raff that was here was he started the job. He's been given an endless pool of resources to make this team capable of being a Top Ten contender every year, yet, we can't even maintain a position of # 25 for a week, let alone make it a regular occurrence.

I'm not checking out like Pennsy, but as I have said ad nauseum "prove it." Thus far that hasn't happened.
thats why I always take the middle ground between a sunshine pumper or a debrah downer....
I try to base everything in logical absolutes

NW has over 10 more conference wins in the past 10 years than Nebraska. I don’t think we understand the magnitude of how bad Nebraska football is and has been for quite some time.
This is exactly right. And another way to look at it is this.... Nebraska got ranked #25 finally, but had to win a few close games to do it. When you are in that tier of teams, say 25-40, you are going to be playing in some close games. You may get blown out in a game against a top 3-5 team and you better be ready to play on the road against an average, but well coached team. That's the reality of where we are at right now. This team had the second of back to back road games on a short week. That might explain the horse **** performance. No excuses here. But maybe this loss was more about being in a "horrible spot" as betters would say.

I'm out on #1 OP. I'm gonna wake up, eat some breakfast, maybe mow the lawn - and then sit down and watch the game. Sorry, Nebraska's gonna have to somehow muster the energy and courage to beat the juggernaut that is NW without me bringing their juice for them. If I see Gottula get run over like a meth ***** on black friday at Walmart, I might even go do something else. This horseshit is getting old.

Now, if they want to appoint me king for a day I'd be happy to fire Donnie and make sure that EJ gets 25 carries. It's not rocket science.

What everyone is not mentioning is that Northwestern , Minnesota and Iowa are getting better as the season goes along. They are fixing the issues on the team and adjusting there schemes to those areas they can't fix .

We are NOT.
And that has been the pattern here for Ruhle's entire tenure.

Has anything ever been fixed in season? Adjustments? Anything? Nope. Just a bunch of coaches stealing money from the church.

1. fans gonna have to show up and be loud
2. players going to have to focus on their particular job, particularly..blocking and tackling first
3. coaches are going to have to do a lil podcasts and get a lil more involved making more clear point 2.

we need this next game, nw beat penn state and ucla...looks like their qb Preston can throw, and they have some rb's
if raiola becomes a piñata we are gonna need some lateef running, nothing personal it's about matchups and winning
Our QB needs to learn how to step into the pocket... until then we are going to allow tons of sacks and get taken out of our system. Yes, our OL struggles but I would say 60% of the sacks Raiola gets would be avoided by a QB with actual pocket presence

The mere fact that we are having the discussion about "can we beat Northwestern" should raise some eyebrows and about a dozen red flags.

Last year at this time, we were also 5-2 and coming off a blowout loss at IND.
Of course, last year the game of this week was OSU in Columbus. Isn't that the same? LOL

He's had a dedicated quarterbacks coach at Nebraska for a year and a half, and he's received private lessons from a professional quarterbacks coach for several years. If he hasn't learned how to step into the pocket by now, I'm not sure he ever will.

i watched some of the minnesota game. maybe N should switch their d'line for their o'line. blocking might improve, could not be any worse. i felt sorry your 5* quarterback having to play behind that leaky group. maybe it's coaching? weird.

He was?

Dude is a stiff.

After 7 games he has thrown for 811 yards with 3TDs and 4INTs.
Yeah, he now has the most wins of any D1 QB. The kid is a winner. He was coming off an off-season arm injury/surgery this season, so got off to a slow start, but picking it up now.

I think Gronowski got a deal in the millions from Iowa. That said, their defense is why they’ve won most of their games. Gronowski had on terrific game. Other games he has looked like he’s not fully recovered from his throwing shoulder rotator cuff surgery.
Yes, Gronowski got a $1.4 million NIL deal. That’s kind of par for the course now for above average D1 teams.

Correct…Iowa is 5-2…missed a late game field goal vs Indiana (after Gronowski went out with injury) or else they could have easily won that game. Other loss was by 3 to in-state rival Iowa State. It was 2nd game of season for Iowa (3rd game for IA State) and Gronowski was still getting comfortable in the offense. However, you are what your record says. Iowa historically gets better as season goes on. Again this season, the o-line continually is getting better. I think Iowa finishes season at 9-3.

That was my view before the season when people were predicting a playoff berth. Play the games. Prove what you are.
Dingle hats off to you. You’ve been a strong Matt fan from day 1 it seems. You didn’t do a victory lap after 4 of our 5 wins were to bad teams and aren’t defending things just because you need to be right. I apperciate you the last few days and your one of the only ones still showing their face

Who else can Rhule call to come in and save the second half of the season? Dana aint it.

Who is the best available OC out there? We could have a chance for some movement pretty quickly.

I just try to be realistic and logical in my assessments whether it’s our team or young NFL QBs. Trying to predict season outcomes or even weekly performances is a fool’s game. Too many confounding factors. Just have to play the games.

I’m afraid Gronowski is going to have a career day against our defense. Dude is just a clutch performer from what I’ve seen.

Can we beat NW is not the question, will we play well enough to win?

players need better coaching, all that “focus pocus” won’t help if you don’t know what to do and where to go and what angle to take to get there.

Was out of state last week, watched the game with a group of NU fans, 50 y.o. crowd. Some had played college ball others/most of us just High School. By the end of the third quarter the frustration/anger was off the chart. The obvious view was we were outcoached and outplayed, offense/def/special teams all looked like they didn't know what the hell to do. The question asked most was "who the hell are we, what do we do well anymore"? The group was to say the least very PO'd. If the opponent were Ohio State, Alabama, Indiana...that's different but not against Minnesota, especially this year. How do we manage to pick up only 36 yards Rushing against Minn. while Purdue is able to put up 253", WTF? Come on Dana, establish the run and then try the play action pass for a change, or is that to obtuse for you? The feeling was if Rhule wants more money for NIL he and his staff could start by donating their pay for the week because they sure didn't deserve any pay for that mess of a game.

This game will be about toughness and physicality. Northwestern has seen the blue print. Nebraska will have to prove it's not what it looked like at Minnesota and against Michelin. I think it'll be a dogfight and right now I'm leaning towards Northwestern 😕
