This is the coaches poll - we got 0 votes in the AP. Minnesota got 1. Probably have to beat MN and OR to get in…

Yeah, this is ridiculous to have zero votes. Also for Minnesota to have 1. Both teams should have more.

I could be wrong but I think Nebraska has more votes than both.

As I said in a different thread: KF sold his soul to a higher power. Someone definitely is moving chess pieces in his favor.

Meh... Penn St. absolutely should not be this bad, even with Allar out.

Also ironic that the post takes a dig at the Big Ten West... two of those teams are from the East and one is a team that ISU fans whine we don't play enough...

Yet Kirk is 11-9 vs PSU.

Rutgers was undefeated going into the Iowa game. We won that on the road.

Wisconsin is absolute dog crap and has been... even with their starting QB. I'll give them that one.

Probably not. I do think if Iowa wins out they will make the playoffs though. However, it will take a miracle to win at USC. I think Iowa has only won west of the rockies once in my lifetime. I actually think they have a better shot at beating Oregon (because it is at home) than they do of beating USC. That said, they will have to play better than they did tonight to beat Oregon. They can't give up that many unforced errors to them.
We beat the Goofs next week, that game against the Ducks will be lit. The fans burned their vocal cords yesterday. Was awesome.

Is Penn State the best team we've faced so far, this season?

Serious question - I hate Penn State.

But honestly. I know Indiana probably is but.. I dunno.. And I don't mean according to record. PSU losses were not exactly blow outs. So in terms of overall talent?
Penn state is stocked with 4 and 5 star kids. That defense didn’t lose no one.

When the Hawks take down Oregon he should get his pay bumped to $11mill a year and extended to 2035.

Ohio state will truck Indiana.
I feel like Ohio State will truck any other team in college football right now. I'm sure they will have a letdown at some point but I'm not even sure if there are any other teams in college football that can be competitive with them right now.

Iowa has 3 wins against B10 conference teams.
None of those three teams have won a conference game.
They are a combined 0 - 12.
I too would like to see Iowa in the Top 25, but they have to beat a team with a pulse to earn it.

Outside of CFP Poll, the AP Poll matters most.

The Coaches Poll hasn't mattered since it was called the UPI Poll.

Why? We have yet to beat a team with a winning record or a single win within their conference.

PSU had a pulse.... It defies logic how they've lost 4 in a row with the talent they have.

That said, gotta beat MN at home and that would obviously be our best win so far. Their young QB is looking good.

For this one I was responding to an ISU fan saying the Big Ten West will live on. Only one team was from the West that we beat. Then my point was Rutgers seemed better early on and have killed themselves with bone headed plays. Penn St is still loved by the computers... top 20 on ESPN still. It's crazy.

I still believe based on what I see, we are a top 25 team. This week will prove it if we win. I was also basing this on the close losses to ISU on the road and Indiana.

My wife, son, and I will be at the USC game (sec. 108B), so I'm looking for a win. We saw Iowa blow the UCLA game in the Rose Bowl last season, so it's time to get it right in the historic LA Memorial Coliseum.

Coaches Poll:
1. Ohio State
2. Indiana
6. Oregon
23. Illinois
24. Michigan
27. USC
31. IOWA
Illinois, a team that Indiana destroyed 63-10 and that has the same record as Iowa is #23, but Iowa is #31 in the coaches and received no votes at all in the AP guess list. Iowa, of course, should have beaten Indiana, only lost 20-15, and has held Indiana to the least number of points it has scored all year. But then who wants to look at facts these days . . .

PSU lost to Oregon in OT. Just for the record.

I'm blaming you if they lose :p.

I feel like this team will put up a good showing. I will be disappointed if they lose, of course, but I just don't want them to go do what they do so often on the west coast and that's play like they haven't practiced for two weeks. But this team has a lot to prove and seems to be very focused. The best part of their offense is their offensive line so they should be able to move the ball a bit and maintain some control (even if they can't end up getting points). I think it will be a great game to watch.

Illinois beat USC. Big wins mean far more than quality losses (or getting blown out by good teams) do. It is unfortunate PSU is imploding because they didn't get much benefit from winning that game.

Illinois' second loss is to #1 tOSU. Ours was to the clones. Illinois also beat USC. We've yet to beat a team with a pulse.

But then, who wants to look at facts these days.

In all honesty, we should be ranked. I would say 23-25. If you look at the losses, they are to a Top 3 Indiana (but we probably should have won), and to Iowa State, who has been crippled with injuries since we played them.
