sure hope that both Moulton and Jaz Patterson come back next year. I don't think that Patterson has enogh of a body of work to declare for the draft, but Moulton with over 5 yards a carry could declare. both look like very tough runners. of course, we have a couple young guys that look somewhat impressive, but I like the proven commodities.

has anybody any thoughts?

Lots of good running backs out there. Getting drafted as one isn't so easy. Remember KJ didn't get drafted til the 3rd round.

Hopefully Jaz is staying included with his injury. It's pretty common for injured players to go to the portal.

Williams will be back next year as well. One area Iowa has a lot of depth at is running back.

I don't think a back with 360 yards through 5 games is a draft pick, so not sure I'd be worried about that

They don’t have a NFL running back in the room right now. Maybe Moulton gets a UFA look.

If they all come back it'll be similar to the early 80s and the days of Eddie Phillips, Owen Gill, and Norm Granger... that was a great backfield.

No worries about any of them declaring for the draft next year.

I guess we’ll see if any are unhappy, but there are plenty of carries to go around. And RB’s rarely make it through a season without getting dinged up and possibly missing games. So you can go from 3rd/4th string to starting/playing pretty quick.

Feel pretty good about the younger guys too. Xavier Williams and Nathan McNeil will only get better.

I agree with everything you said except the line "plentyof carries to go around."

next year (IF, a very big IF) none of these guys hit the portal, we will have, in order of competency:

1/2: Moulton

1/2: Jaz Patterson

3) Xavier Williams

4) McNeil

5) Washington

I just do not see all five of those guys sticking around. Not in this day & age. Hope I am wrong (except for Washington; I would prefer he hit the portal)

Why would you prefer a guy hits the portal?
Weird.

There are Iowa fans like this every time we have some depth at a position. I don’t get it either.

Yes, we have depth at RB. But, you need to at RB.

RB’s get injured fairly regularly.

Been hurt this year:

Moulton-yes
Patterson-yes
Washington-yes
Williams-yes
McNeil-not sure

I remember all of these guys getting reps this year. They would all get reps next year. And we will likely need them all to play a larger role than normal at some point in the season.
