This is why officials HATE this play.
It's so hard to see everything going on in the middle of these plays. That's why the refs keep missing the false starts on the Eagles every other time they run it.
But in a sneak like that on the goal line, once they lose the ball, all they can do is base it on where they think the QB ended up at the time the whistle blew, and then go with that call. Replay will then look at it, typically nothing can be seen, and the call will stand.
Sure would have been nice to have the defense set the tone to start the game with a young QB in his first road start.
