Penn St (3-3, 0-3) comes to Iowa city losers of three straight and $50m lighter after canning their head coach. Iowa (4-2, 2-1) is feeling great after an histrionic butt kicking in Madison.

Penn St is still very much loaded with talent, although I’d imagine mentally they are a mess.

Shockingly I like the hawks to do just enough in a big ten slugfest and eke out a 24-16 victory.

Not sure what to make of this game. Penn State has more talent across the board than Iowa. They are playing their backup QB, but since Gronowski is gimpy and the Hawks passing game isn’t much of a threat anyway, that might not turn out to be a big deal.

PSU’s interim coach has already said they will be playing “for Coach Franklin”, so they will be sky high to start the game. Iowa CANNOT let them jump out to a lead or hang around. If they can find a way to build a 2 score lead early, that may cause PSU to fold their tent. Iowa will also need to put pressure on their QB, and force him into making mistakes.

And Kirk…if the Hawks win the toss….DEFER! Do NOT take the ball. Put your best unit on the field to start the game. You will have a better chance forcing a punt than the offense going down the field and scoring.

I think the Hawks do just enough to pull this out.

This should be interesting. PSU obviously has more talent than Iowa, but they appear to be a completely broken team who lost their QB and got their HC fired. I hope Iowa doesn't get UCLA'd.

So do I. We always watch games with an hour delay so we can fast forward through commercials. But peacock doesn't give you an option like on YouTubeTV to "start at the beginning." It takes you right to live and therefore the one rewinding sees the score at 1 hour in. And if you pause it for too long for a bathroom break it resets to live and gets you again. Plus, it's harder to know when to stop when fast forwarding. It doesn't show a small view to show when the commercial is over. It's guess work. It's inferior.

Actually the o/u is 41.5, according to ESPN, and I wonder if the total will be close to that. Personally I think in will be a close game in the 17-14 range. Go Hawks!
