What difference do you expect in OL/offense

So, we have a new OL coach. What do you expect to see this weekend and going forward?

No change, same stuff, pointing to an issue at OC?

Some slight improvement?

Or do you expect a major improvement?

I voted "slight". Elliott has been involved all the time anyway, so I doubt he brings some massive change to how they are coached. And the OC is the same, and is going to ask the same things of them.

Im thinking we see a little renewed enthusiasm due to "holy crap, this is serious" type thoughts after a firing.

I predict no change at all. I can't help but wonder if some of the OL that Teasley recruited might be bitter about his firing. Elliott has been right there all along so I don't think he has been holding back on some secret that he will unleash now.

Conversely, Carolina might have lost some recruits with his retention and the prospect of losing 4-5 more games.
It won't be surprising if there is a 4-8 or 5-7 campaign there will be several players transferring out as well.

I chose "slight improvement". I think a different voice can have some impact as well as hopefully Elliott can clean up/improve some technique/knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised to see some personnel changes - not that there are any in particular for which I'm advocating. I just think SE may have some different ideas on who's playing where. Here's hoping for the best (it couldn't get much worse)!

On this one , I don't think your in the minority per say, the O Lines under Muschamp and at the end of Spurrier era were not great, but the man has a chance to prove how great he is, turn this bunch around that the "great recruiter" Teasley put together , and I will take note and be impressed ,

I've been saying that Shane's problem. If he wants to get more successful, he needs to hit up some buffets. He's looking like a cross country coach these days-not a football coach. Huepel got fat and then had playoff-contending teams. You could argue UGA didn't start winning titles until Smart started packing it on.

I am with you "in the minority". I was not impressed with our OL when Elliott was OL coach under Spurrier. I expect "slight improvement" at best.

I think Elliott can fix the communication issues and reduce the false starts and illegal procedure penalties which will help. I don't think he can correct bad technique without an off-season to work on it.

Wasn't Elliott hired from ASU the same time Lattimore was recruited because his zone blocking scheme was what Marcus ran best with? My memory saves bits and pieces sometimes but that is what I remember.

Unless he is a healer as well as good coach... and can make our OL not made of glass... I wouldn't expect too much.

Slight improvement. Shawn is a great technician and motivator. He’s not top 10 in OL coaches but he’s good.
For anyone who thinks he’s been meddling in the OL you’re wrong. You’ve clearly never coached. Coaches do NOt reach across position group lines and coach other guys position players. That is a quick way to create dissension among the staff and players. There are times during drills where TEs and tackles will inevitably have to work together but unless there’s a mutual agreement he’s not coaching anyone other than his guys.

I believe that's correct. Came from App State when he joined Spurrier's staff. Grew up in Camden.

I'm not even sure why Elliott is on the staff, aside from the fact that he used to coach here and he's from SC.

Some of our fans welcomed his hiring, assuming he was really being brought in to straighten out the OL. Well, that obviously hasn't happened.

I really just don't expect much improvement. However, worst case scenario is the OL will improve somewhat down the stretch and Beamer will make him the permanent OC instead of making a serious hire.

I'm not trying to knock SE, but, is it coincidence that we had good OL play when Lattimore was here? Or....... Did Latt just make the OL look good? Or, did Latt's talent elevate our running game to the point it opened up the passing game, keeping defenses honest, and making the OL's job easier?
