Is it true that a B1G sports service has picked RU for 18th place in the B1G this season?

If so then that reflects the opinion of many on this board.

Where does the scoring come from to reach 65-70 ppg in conference play?

The Athletic picked them 18th.
This is not an unreasonable pick given only four players returning and neither returning player is a proven scorer. Lots of questions about the new players and transfers from how they will play together to how will they perform at this level to who can score a basket. They are also very young overall. All that being said there are a lot of players who are both tall and athletic who have the physical attributes to defend and rebound. This teams ability or lack of ability to get easy baskets off turnovers and offensive rebounds will likely be key as scoring may otherwise be problematic.

What is exciting about a new season is we really don’t know how this team will do and it’s possible that this team’s preseason prediction of finishing 18th in the Big Ten will be just as far off as having Rutgers ranked at the beginning of last season.

65-70 points would be a miracle. Name 2-3 players who will average double figures. Just being realistic. I am expecting 55-53 rock fights for our team to have any chance to win games. I almost wish B1G kept bottom 3 teams out of the league tournament. Just not worth watching bad teams play on a Tuesday in nearly empty arena just to sell more games to TV partners.

The good news is nobody will be disappointed and have anything to complain about.
I'm thinking a better season is coming then most think.
Pike now will be stressing teamwork for the O , instead of relying on the stars to score and strong a D
to overcome offensive shortcomings..
This won't be a team that excited with spectacular offence but a winner that plods along with a reliable offense and a D that won't quit.
Which will win enough to make the Dance, but not a good enough team to dance very long

Call me crazy, but I am actually more intrigued by this year than last year. I had a bad gut feeling that last year was going to be a sh$t show heading into it.
I had a similar feeling last year, not a poop show but thought the team was over hyped and lacked defense.

so my friend if we suck it up, get our asses kicked, and finish in the bottom we shouldn't complain or be disappointed?

I'm personally hoping we over achieve and have better team balance, fix the D and rebounding issues, and play good hard bball. I'll reserve my personal bitching and complaining until the season starts.. edit: ooops.

I think this team will be fun to watch and there will be a number of fan favorites.

The problem is: although we'll be competitive in most games, we'll come out on the losing end more often than not.

With that said, if you like hard-nosed basketball with players who give their all, you'll enjoy watching this team. If you only care about winning and judge the season as a failure if we don't go to the big dance, you might as well tune out now.

completely agree. that Davis was one of the RU players representing at media guy almost says it all
Yep. 4 points per game last season. I think this team is going to be a turnover machine, and in constant foul trouble. Could of sworn I heard Pike blurt out he expects RU's big men to be fouling out pretty regularly!
