I'm making this comment in general, but-

Mmm......following college athletes and placing merit and worth on the number of engagements and followers they have on social media sites like Instagram and Twitters............................

#get off my lawn

(P.S. this is something I've noticed is a growing trend for people arguing about the popularity of a player. Like for example, the idiots of Twitter arguing Angel Reese > Caitlin Clark because Reese had more simps followers on social media....................."who in the f*** cares.")
Not really placing merit/worth on it..

Just showing that the fan base is strong.. which could help land more commits if Iowa’s brand grows bigger.

Again though, I don't give a f*** if it's "the times we live in".

Social media helping to land more recruits................

But again, everything is cool........until it's not. It's all about how you go about discouraging these things and getting them to "jump the shark" (i.e. how do fads/trends die......use that as a tool to then keep new ones from replacing them, like for example the influence of social media on our younger society :D)

P.S. I'm not scolding you, btw. This is all general commentary on our society and its flaws.

Hawk Central has a list of Iowa's Top-100 recruits since 2008. Here's the one's still on the team this year, except for Ava Jones, Aaliyah Guyton, and McKenna Woliczko. That's eight top-100 players at the same time. I dunno how that compares to other elite programs, but it looks good to me. We lose the 2022 crew of three at the end of the year, so we better sign a couple more to keep it up.
  • 6. McKenna Woliczko (2026)
  • 23. Addie Deal (2025)
  • 71. Layla Hays (2025)
  • 42. Ava Heiden (2024)
  • 58. Aaliyah Guyton (2024)
  • 65. Teagan Mallegni (2024)
  • 94. Taylor Stremlow (2024)
  • 84. Ava Jones (2023)
  • 45. Hannah Stuelke (2022)
  • 76. Jada Gyamfi (2022)
  • 89. Taylor McCabe (2022)
Link: Where does McKenna Woliczko rank in recent Iowa women's basketball recruiting history?
Kylie was a top 100 recruit as well, just to Iowa State her first year.

I haven't seen anyone post about McKenna's ACL injury. I know it has been nine months since the injury so good luck completing a full recovery. We look forward to seeing her in the black and gold the next four years.
The talking heads have discussed it. I think no one here wants to go there. I get that.

She said during her press conference yesterday that her next appointment with her surgeon is on October 29 and that she hopes to be fully recovered for her senior season. I am guessing a reasonable goal would be no limitations by the first of the year, but who knows? She did say she has been shooting a lot. I assume she is also working on upper-body strength.

She did the presser about her committment with the schools AD and her high school coach. Coach said she looks great and has been meeting all the goals but they are holding her back just a bit. She didn't commit to her playing game one of her senior season (which was one of the questions), but she said she does think she will play more game s then she will miss. Probably start seeing some game action by late Nov early Dec, but they are not rushing her.

She can jump, so I can see her playing some post.
Yeah, maybe when the offense breaks down against subpar competition but there will probably be no set plays for her to be posting players up in the Big Ten.

Why? B/c she’s not a post player.

I think along the same lines as FireFighter. She is reportedly too athletic and dynamic to use as a post and boxed in by doubles. Especially with the excellent other post players on the roster. Will she post up in certain situation, sure. The Hawkeyes motion offense provides players the ability to make those decisions. I feel they will give her a ton of freedom and let her play. Don‘t over coach and restrict your star players. That was a strength of Bluder and I believe Jensen feels the same way.

In Iowa's system, it's not a problem if McKenna will plays PF or wing. She'll free to play 4 like Hannah, but doing a few things that a PF does that Hannah doesn't do much, like mid-range and 3pt. Or she could play 4 with wing skills like Kate Martin and Syd did. She'll free to play both styles.
