Can't we get in with 5 wins?

I don't hold out much hope. Stone is probably 25th best QB in the league and only has one real target.

Caleb is legit.

We have good specialists.

Defense is not great but solid.

The hope is that Stone turns into SMU STONE and someone from Covey, Eligon, Ricky, Wagner, and Farell figures it out as a WR. If the offense becomes live then we are just hoping to catch some of these teams later on the schedule on a bad day.

Right now, it's hard to see. But there's a lot of football left to play.

If you could rewind the clock to August and asked most fans where will we be after 4 games...

Of course you have the negative types who think we are one bad loss away from the dark ages.

And you have the optimists who think we will make the playoffs every year.

I think most fans (80%? More?) would have predicted 2-2 with losses to very possible playoff team Tulane (though they lost to Ole Miss last week) and Oregon (last years Big Ten Champions) and wins over UCLA (though many probably are/were surprised at how the have melted down this year) and Western Illinois,

The surprise team that I thought would be a win but could very well be a loss is Purdue. Could cost us a six win season and a bowl. But time will tell.

For now. full steam ahead. GO CATS!

We only need to win 3 more for bowl eligibility. ULM, Purdue and then one, just one upset. If we get 6 wins we should still fire Braun

We should ask what's up with the receivers this year and is it coach Binn? I remember excellent receiving two years ago and coach Binn was already with us then. Strange.

Yesterday's game was a good example of what's wrong with the passing game. Stone didnt make stupid mistakes, for once, even after UCLA stepped up on defense in H2.

The line generally gave him time.

The wide receivers, outside of Wilde, just aren't any good. Playing against a bottom 10 FBS defense, they had zero production. (Negative actually).

Win 2 of the next 3 and then you have 5 games to get 2 wins for bowl eligibility. That’s all I ask.
The Big Ten is not as good as we thought.

Every game on the schedule is winnable. Even PSU… okay, maybe not that.

But almost every game is winnable! 💪

I‘m feeling better about the game.

UCLA didn’t play like a team adrift. Skipper seems to have kept them together.

Iamaleava is a real talent. Flores seemed pretty good too.

Plus, getting clobbered early, then climbing back in the second half, seems to be how most recent UCLA games have gone.

Recruiting. Plain and simple. We have been recruiting FCS athletes and not Power 5 athletes. Even our transfer WR this year is from FCS. Our transfer WR then was from Michigan.

That's not strange. The main receivers were Kirtz, Henning and Johnson. Bring those guys back and Binns will look a whole lot better.

Jeez. Those 3 were so much more talented than what we currently have. Wilde is good but he would have been the 4th receiver of that group.

It's not over til the fat lady sings, but our offense needs to vastly improve to get to a bowl. The thing is we have an average offense at best. Our fellow old western division foes seem better than us, with the exception of Purdue. Keep improving and we will get there, but if we have seen the best they can play, a bowl will be very difficult.

You want hope then just focus on the first half, which was a strong performance!
