Someone has got to make the thread… Arguably 2 teams in the top 3 face off this Friday at Barda - Dowling

who punts first
Who has more rushing yards
Who’s O Line will give up the first sack

let’s get the conversation started

Rice will need to play a nea perfect game on the road (no turnovers, few penalties, make their tackles, etc) in order to pull the upset.
Massey has it 38-24 - I'm gonna go 35-21

I think that MC’s Achilles heal is the weather

if rain affects the air attack… they might have some issues

Massey now showing 35-21 predication - I'd say that's realistic

MC by 10
Both have very good defenses but in the end I’ll take a Jordan Lynch offense for the win.

"many are calling this the Feeto pick of the year"

Maybe the Feeto pick of the regular season. Three or four games in the playoffs are looming as the Feeto pick of the year. Don't discount Loyola.

Those who watched MC on Friday saw a team that was dominant in every phase of the game. MC has no weaknesses, no Achilles heel.

And the backups are as good as the starters. Can anyone say six-peat?

Aggressive 4th-down attempts have put the MC defense in tough spots a few times this year, leading to some easy TDs as a direct result. I think MC’s current philosophy accepts that the defense will give up extra points as a trade-off for the belief that giving the offense more chances will ultimately pay off. It’s essentially a ‘first one to 40 points wins’ approach and the reality is, only a handful of schools are equipped to challenge that style without ending up with a one-dimensional offense after only a few possessions. If Rice is going to win, they’ll need to string together long, mistake-free drives, protect the football, and keep MC’s offense on the sideline while also winning the 4th-down battles when Carmel inevitably rolls the dice. Even something as simple as receiving the opening kickoff and setting the tone with a sustained drive would go a long way for BR. Anything less, and they’ll get dragged into a shootout they probably can’t win.

You can talk about the incredible QB that Moeller has

but the week prior he was held to under 100 yards passing

the MC defensive play calling is where their issues stem from

I don’t know if BR has the offensive horses to get into a shootout; but they could try to bu

nickel and dime the clock with short yardage gains

I will for sure be watching this one

You have brought up the game he had the week before MC on more then a few occasions. He had an off week on week one of the season against a ranked OH team, it happens. The year before he won Mr. Ohio as a junior and threw for 60 TD passes, he's a legit nationally ranked QB.

MC had two starters in their secondary out vs Benet, not sure of the severity but #9 seemed to be in a cast.

BRs D-line is outstanding. But MC might run the ball 8 times. Can BRs secondary cover Burrell, Thorton and Brown consistently? I like MC at home by 2 scores but they won't pull away until the end after BR is a bit gassed.

I think the secondary is solid. Isaac Saldana, #9, may be out for a while, but other players besides Harrington have been contributing. To name a few, Brandon Rogers and Cullen Winter, both juniors, came up with interceptions against Benet. Kemph, a transfer from IC, had one against Iggy. Harrington has three or four for the season, and I'm sure there are others. Is there a team with more interceptions?

Per Massey, Moeller is currently #1 overall in Ohio with the top-ranked offense. In Illinois, the only teams ranked higher offensively are Mount Carmel and Lincoln-Way East. I think that QB’s first game was an anomaly and he got back to form quickly.

If MC wants to win the 8a title and/or go undefeated, certainly the secondary will need to play up to their potential against the top teams like Rice, Loyola, and hopefully LWE. But that also provides an opportunity for the D line to show why they have so many scholarships amongst them. There’s still plenty of time for this group and any new coaching additions to round into championship form. I’m sure these guys, especially Dowling, remember last year’s blemish at Rice… Should be a fun one on Dante.
