Maybe in the most obvious view, it feels like this game is going to be won at the line of scrimmage for both sides of the ball. Iowa had to stay in man defense last week to add an extra rusher. If Iowa can stay in that zone defense that would help. On the flip side, Indiana's d-line looks more than stout, but Iowa's o-line is a different beast than the Illinois offense. Hoping Iowa can re-establish bully ball.
Taking a glance at those stats it appears that Indy is less effective against man to man
Everything for Indiana on offense is keyed off the run. Their pass game gets the hype, but it's their run game that makes their offense go. For us to be successful, we HAVE TO take away their run game and make them one dimensional. In their two losses last year, they were held under 70 yds rushing. And then if/when they make it to the redzone, we have to force FGs.
On offense, we have to possess the ball. Mix in the QB run game and the screen game that seems to have made somewhat of a comeback lately. The screen game will really help against their aggression in getting to the QB. And when we get to the redzone, we have to punch it in. FGs aren't going to win this game.
Speaking of FGs, their kicker has made 30 XPs, but only 3 FGs and none longer than 25 yds. Will be interesting to see how he reacts in a hostile environment if it comes down to some kicks.
Finally, the fans have to bring it. The one decided edge we have is the game is at Kinnick. I don't think a single player on Indiana has ever been to Kinnick. It really is unlike any opposing stadium in that the fans are right on top of you. There's no preparation for that and there's no way to simulate that ahead of time. Hopefully that allows us to jump on them early and make them play from behind.

Considering Iowa’s linebacker and corner play and knowing Cignetti schemes on a whole different planet than Rutgers, I’m hoping Iowa can keep it within 30 points.

Quality coaches and brings in good players that are hungry and want more. The Athletic had a great article yesterday on how they have turned it around, they do not settle for average, they want to win and keep winning.
This guy gets it. Bend don’t break them to hell and don’t let their run game get going. We are going to give up yards between the redzones but we need to keep them out of the end zone. And pray for a TO or 2.
Not sure if you guys saw the Lions vs Ravens game but the blueprint is that. We need a couple of long beautiful drives that keeps their offense off the field and out of rhythm.

TCU went to the championship game a few years ago after firing their long term coach the season before. Indiana is pumping money into the sport which is legal now. They finally found a very good coach that is thriving in this world of college athletes.
