Indiana playoffs last year

Everyone remember the outrage for poor Alabama for not getting into the playoffs last year and that Indiana stole a spot from them?

The outrage continued when Indiana was "blown out" in the first round. Nevermind that it was the closest first round game, they played ND who finished in the title game and the only SEC team to play was obliterated.

Point being that the outrage from media was stupid. I haven't heard many, especially those on ESPN, walk any of those comments back on last year's team. Cignetti is a great coach who can develop players and Indiana is putting that NIL money to use.

Man would it be a huge win to knock them off Saturday.

Looks sunny and fairly warm so they will have the good old fall sun right in their eyes on their sideline and hopefully relentlessly screaming from fans behind them.
I have a sneaky good feeling Iowa is going to handle them on Saturday somehow someway…. Let’s get Kinnick rocking as we will be there as we are leaving tomorrow morning long drive from Jersey but worth it! Go Hawks!

Definitely not arguing that Indiana is not a good team, but their last win over Illinois was literally the first win over a ranked team in the Cignetti era, and the jury is still out on how good Illinois actually is. They have also only won 3 road games under Cignetti so far, at UCLA, Northwestern and Michigan St. So, they haven't exactly proven they are elite yet.

It was shocking that a BB offensive line was so abysmal. Indiana just owned them. I will get on the Indiana bandwagon if they can do that to Dunker and Jones.

Winning @ UCLA and Mich St. Two things we couldn't do last year. We'll see how good Indiana is, but they've clearly jumped up to the area in the pecking order that Iowa and Wisconsin used to inhabit.

Cignetti said in games prior to that teams were pressuring their QB a lot so they knew they could
Imagine that, adjusting your game plan based on scouting, rather than doing the same old thing.

So if we beat Indiana on Saturday then what?

Good grief ... Woody Hayes would have beaten that fired UCLA goof. Hard to believe KF lost to that guy, well maybe not.

Indiana gave up 7 yards per play against Old Dominion and allowed 218 rushing yards. Indiana won 27-14, but they mainly won because Old Dominion threw 3 INTs. Mendoza was 18-31 for 193 yards and 0 TD. Indiana had a punt return for a TD to tie the game up at 7.

Old Dominion led the game 7-0. Indiana had a punt return for a TD to tie the game up at 7. It was 7-7 when OD threw a pick in early 2nd quarter when they were driving again. It was just 10-7 Indiana late 2nd quarter when OD threw another INT on their own 6 yard line.

UCLA and MSU both handled Iowa very easily last year.

Most of that ODU rushing was on two long runs by the QB.

Not wrong, but MSU was basically Cade's last start, and against UCLA we were down to our 3rd string QB, so I don't think its a great comparison. I am essentially commenting on how the entire media landscape has fallen in love with Indiana now that they are competent and beat up on a ranked team who was down 2-3 CBs

If Indiana’s team had Michigan or Texas across their chest instead of Indiana, they’d be ranked in the top 5. If Iowa can get this one, it’d be one hell of an effort. Gonna need that home crowd and some turnovers

I’m not sure I see MG getting many long runs this year.

He doesn’t appear to be particularly fast on the field when scrambling.

I think he is most effective running inside(he is a very patient runner) on designed QB runs where he might get you 5-10 yards.

I hope our Offensive Line can keep him clean, because I’m not sure he will be able to run away from Indiana rushers.

The short ones can add up. Just have to make the drives count.

Would prefer 7 from a long drive vs 7 from a quick strike, anyway. Especially vs Indiana

I see our resident skirt fan is back here bright and early obsessing over Iowa and posting emoji’s.

We want more. We want more. We want more. Of course since skirt fan is obsessed with Iowa he will give it to us.

Wait for it, wait for it…..

By mid- game the Illinois were without 6 of top 7 d-backs
Imagine hawks being that depleted...we would be down to walk-ons.

Hawks have to keep our defense off the field with long drives and somehow get to Mendoza when we are on defense.
