The first quarter vs Rutgers was rough, and this is not the elite defense of 2022 or 2023, but for those of you claiming that the Iowa defense is significantly down this year:
Iowa is one of only 5 teams who have played 4 games and not allowed any 3rd quarter points this year, and they are 4th in the country in second half points allowed at just 3.3 per game. A testament to Phil's ability to adjust on the fly.
They are tied for 9th in rushing yards allowed per attempt at 2.3 yards per play.
They are currently tied for 10th at 4.1 yards allowed per play.
They are 24th in scoring defense at 17.0 per game.
Doesn't mean they won't get throttled by Indiana this week because Indiana is really good, but it won't be because they aren't facing a high quality defense.
