Seem to be mounting. Someone was crowing about how strength and conditioning is improved. Pre-game after not playing any P5 teams, that is quite a list.

Ian strong didn’t look right. Moved carefully, maybe even gingerly. Still caught everything thrown his way but didn’t look 100% or even 80% of his explosiveness.

We lost RB Jaz Patterson early, but I think that was it.

Something is seriously wrong. Maybe it’s the field turf. Maybe the S&C. It’s derailing season after season

We were commenting about it. Why is it that it’s always one of ours that hits the turf?

Would we see fewer injuries if we replaced the artificial turf at the stadium and practice facility with real grass? We seem to have way too many injuries every year.

It’s not that unusual that overmatched players athletically get injured. It’s why win lesser teams in the beginning of the season play the powerhouse they suffer number of injuries. While we have a number of playmakers, along the trenches, we are physically overmatched against Iowa and it’s not surprising linebackers and lineman would go down.

The search for strength and conditioning as the sole cause overlooks athleticism. It’s a combination, but less athletic teams usually do get more injuries against better teams.

Did any Iowa players go down with an injury? I don't recall any. Our guys were dropping left & right.

Yes, Iowa's first targeted WR Seth Anderson and Iowa RB starter Jazz Patterson both suffered ankle injuries. I do believe Iowa S&C is strong though and we have seen that 3 out of 4 games with numbers of storages.

Iowa was missing two RBs already, WR1 was injured before season and TE1 is lost for season (at Iowa State).

This
Destroyed our Defense last season.
This year players all over the program are going down with serious injuries. Something is seriously wrong with the physical conditioning?

Iowa doesn’t have playmakers like Ian Strong or KM. When your strength is the OL it’s not as big a hit to lose guys at the skill positions.

Of course injuries happen in football but the way you prepare your body can help you avoid injury...I'm sure they emphasize stretching and nutrition...but that's like half the team out for the season..

I checked the roster, we have 11 players out for the season prior to last night’s game. Thats over 10% of our roster. Is that typical for a P4 team after 3 games? I would think not.

I made a suggestion that the players eat more head cheese. It was ignored. For those that don't know:

Yeah man idk but I know the Iowa list doesn't even look close to RU's...I won't say anything else about it because I'm sure the staff is aware and trying things, maybe even the new president and AD are on top of it..don't want to make it like you'll get hurt if you choose to play for Rutgers...then that'll be another problem lol....but yeah something has to change, I don't care if they bring in a yoga and Pilates instructor and make sessions mandatory.. something..

Especially after playing 3 patsies … something is wrong.
Our only hope is the Offense stars stay healthy…. sans Campbell ( hope he returns). On Defense.. we are toast ..the backups can’t be much worse.

Again I ask. How many of those injuries happened in preseason and how many during the first 3 games?

Two of the three practice fields are natural grass. I'd like to see the stadium return to natural grass, but it costs more to maintain, especially if lacrosse tears it up in the spring and the surface needs to be replaced each year.

Outside of the goal creases and face off dot lacrosse does nowhere near the damage as football, and is not the cause of any replacement
